I'd LOVE to get into witchcraft, but i honestly have no idea how. Like i'm a bit confused on if i have to follow a religion to be a "wizard" (bc im atheist), or it's something more spiritual. Also if someone who practices witchcraft sees this, i'd REALLY appreciate some help, thank you!! XD
UPDATE: Since my parents are both pagans, they said that they're gonna teach me some stuff about witchcraft!!! >w< they also gave me one of their books about witchcraft (i think lol) bc it says: "A guide to potions and wicca spells" (sry if it's not translated correctly, the book is in italian) and i already started reading it :D It's kinda hard since i have a short attention span due to ADHD, and yes it interests me but unfortunately i get tired or bored easily. Tho i wish i could join the witchcraft "community" (idk how to call it so sorry TnT) one day, and be a proud wizard!!! ;3

Usually witchcraft revolves around Paganism (spiritual beliefs and the belief that there is a higher power not above us but all around us).
Its a broad term for polytheistic religions meaning there are multiple deity's involved usually or sometimes no belief in deity's.
Every culture has there own form of witchcraft with their own belief and methods.
Id recommend doing some research into the different types of witchcraft and choose one that you find believable.
While I have my own personal beliefs of what is and isnt spiritual i could never say its more reasonable then anybody elses beliefs sinc eits based in faith and feelings.
If you believe that crystals have spiritual power look into that! But ofc to go into witching you dont have to!
Theres belief in herbalism and that plants hold spiritual power instead.
Theres: belief in spirits as in ghosts holding power,the sun holding power,the moon,the sea,etc,etc.
WITCHES ARE BASICALLY JUST PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN POWER IN NATURE AND WORSHIP/USE THIS POWER.
There arent rly rules around it :p
The BEST thing i can reccomend is you look into what you already feel is powerful in your life (sensing presences,feeling power coming off of items,etc)
So look into what you find spiritual! Personally I believe in the spirits in landmarks and nature like mountains and visit mountain temples in Japan to collect omamori every year.
I also perform good luck rituals based around sites rather then materials (like crystal and plant witches do).
A lot of people go into witchcraft for the aesthetics behind it and not because they are spiritual people which is fine but they might be wasting their time since following a religion you have 0 faith in doesn't really reap rewards. (and witching doesn't rly have an aesthetic unless it related to the beliefs of the people).
I wouldnt recommend looking into tiktok witches btw those are mostly scams and posers.
And experiment!
I tried a few things that I honestly didnt have a huge amount of faith in but ended up seeing results!

Also just one question and sorry if it sounds stupid, but i was curious: if im a guy, and let's say i already practice witchcraft (bc im really new to it), am i a witch or a wizard?? Bc it confuses me a bit about the terms TwT

i would probably say witch?
Wizards arent particularly know for their paganism and worship of the natural world tbh :p
