Recently, I've been thinking about getting rid of my retro game collection. I first started it for preservation; I had a bunch of Playstation 2, Wii, Xbox One, and Switch titles, and some NES, SNES, and N64 titles that I collected between 2018 and now. Honestly, I just have them in a couple boxes that go untouched in my room, and am now thinking about selling them off to someone who will actually put them to good use.
Games are meant to be played, and I have plenty of ways to play these older titles without having to go through this expensive and overflowing route. It's a cool hobby, but I'm no longer interested in that hobby anymore, at least with games.
I'm more interested now in picking up movies, games for me are fun but the act of having so many consoles and so many games to play is a bit too much for me. I have a Steam Deck that can emulate all of the games I want to play, similarly to how a UHD Blu-Ray Player can play any type of disc.
I do still play games, and I will still keep some of my consoles like my Switch 2 (which I unfortunately bought but whatever), Playstation 5, and my Steam Deck. It's pretty rare when I touch them — apart from my PS5 since that's also my DVD player — since I've been so busy with my filmmaking, but when I do it's still very fun, but the consoles and games that I have in the back of my bedroom go untouched, and it's been that way for years.
Yet, a part of me still wants to keep them, in case there's a time in the future where I fully regret my choices.

I have a whole bunch of consoles & games too, and I think about this sometimes, but I've spent so long playing them throughout my life that I think if I did it part of my soul would be destroyed.

this is how i felt about being a swiftie...i felt like a huge fan from 2022 until early 2024 and since then it's been less and less....i get it's just a phase in my life but i don't want to let her go! she's one of a handful of artists with a huge dedicated community across multiple platforms and IRL, plus she still releases music unlike some of my other favs :( i don't know what i should do..

honestly i get this so much sometimes we outgrow stuff and that’s ok maybe just keep a few favs and let the rest go to someone who’ll enjoy them feels better than letting them gather dust
