no phone summer🌺

so like, my mom right? she found a bunch of me and my dad’s old wii u video games. when she showed me all the games on Facetime, i was so goddamn happy. then she told me that she was planning to give them to goodwill. GOODWILL of all places. i had to damn near beg her to save them for until i got back (bc i was at my dad’s) but she fortunately didn’t touch them, and when i got back, the first thing i did was grab them from the garage, and shove them in a box in my room.

(2 weeks later)

currently,  im shopping online for an ipod and camcorder. (mostly bc i dont have my phone, which is currently taking a nap at the bottom of an Urban Air Ballpit💔/srs)

but like, now that i dont have my phone, and really consumed the world around me, the more i realized how much everyone was face-first in their phones and the internet in general. like, i was sitting at a table, and as i looked around the room, i saw how everyone sitting around me was on their phones after eating breakfast. people who walked past, would say a quick ‘good morning’ before retreating to the comfort of their phone screen.

dont get me wrong, i get it. phones are fucking awesome. they can save and hold hundreds of thousands of photos and videos. hold pieces of time that youll never experience again. you could play hundreds of video games, watch people play video games, and even make and post yourself playing videos games on a platform, where hundreds of people play video games. the only limit is your imagination with phones.

but like, im lowkey getting tired of them. having almost everything at my fingertips, gets boring after a while. and then, you begin to scroll… and scroll… and scroll… which is such an issue. the internet, especially scrolling platforms like tiktok, instagram reels, youtube shorts, get repetitive. and it leads to doomscrolling, and basically stunt your attention span (my attention span is short enough, atp its in hell😭/j) with short, intresting, skits and videos. bursts of excitement, and energy. then when everything calms down… you get bored, i get bored, we all get bored, and we end up crawling back to the same apps that are the root and reason of our short attention spans like addicts..

(but lemme get back to my point, im getting distracted)

my point is that i feel like instead of relying on our phones for everything, for this summer, why not have a little fun outside of it? like modding our Nintendo 3ds, making jewelry and crochet, or even better; recording fun ass moments on our camcorders, and installing music on our ipods, instead of relying on spotify and our phone camera.

this summer, we should disconnect from the internet, even if its just a little.

(writers note: first post guys, kinda nervous. if anyone knows where i can buy a camcorder and digital camera, DM me PLS😭)

I agree! I've been using my phone a lot less recently and focusing on my hobbies and going out more! I take pictures on my 3ds and me and my bestie record with her camcorder. It's been a lot more fun and I honestly feel happier when I spend less time on my phone.

heavy on DIY and working out. i have so many ideas and so much motivation to create and get active, but i was stuck watching people do it online, instead of doing it myself .
