seeking advice for decoration!!

so, at some point next year i'm gonna be moving out to go to uni and it's only just occurred to me that im going to have to decorate my room. i have some ideas, but its never really something ive attempted before, so if anyone has advice as to how to curate a look, or good places to find stuff, advice would be greatly appreciated!!

im also vouching for secondhand stores; as a great majority of students i dont have a lot of money lmao plus i like digging around for stuff because it is fun. i really like looking through their postcards because once in a while you find some with really cool art or photos. plants are also a super simple way to make the place more liveable, i recently got myself a small monstera (although i need to repot it because i realised its actually 3 plants in one tiny pot rahh) BUT make sure its a type that doesnt shed lots of leaves and stuff. the less cleanup you will set yourself up for the easier the time u will have

I assume you've probably heard of it before bc it's super popular but Pinterest is perfect for like. anything. room decor especially! You can make a board and pick out all the things you'd like to have, and even find a lot of inspiration from it too. As for where to get the stuff... Second-hand (aka thrift stores or op-shops) are always good, but may not have what you're after. I really like IKEA for their furniture, i shop for all of my furniture at generic stores like kmart or big w. do noooot shop for stuff at temu or shein, it will fall apart, it uses awful methods to get their products, and there's been a lot of evidence to suggest the stuff they make is contaminated with dangerous shit
