People being me here. I watched jerry maguire for the first time yesterday. I was actually blown away with how much chemistry the leads had and how wholesome it was. I mean to be fair both tom and renée are amazing actors but I went in with no expectations. It made me think about how in the current climate when romance is dead, people are really cynical with what little is released of the genre. We are so hellbent on watching specific tropes now, that we refuse to let romcoms even exist anymore. (I'm excluding films like family affair and he's all that- they should not exist). I think only asian dramas are fairing well in terms of romcom. Anyway, I didn't get to watch materialists yet. So I don't know how it is fairing. But I am down for recommendations because there is no recent romcom for the current gen.
