In all honesty, minimalism is far more anxiety inducing than maximalism, at least to me it is. To have an empty space in your home is a nightmare to me- it just feels so soulless and dull - and it gives me incredible anxiety. I don’t exactly know 100% why it does, but maximalism has always been my comfort. The more clutter, the better and safer I feel (and by clutter, I don’t mean trash, I just mean little trinkets, stuffed animals, things that matter to me, and other stuffs). Perhaps it’s the dull colourlessness of minimalism and lack of personalized items that make said home personal and unique that makes me shiver at the thought of it. I’ve always loved to personalize my spaces, so I suppose that could be a good reason.
I just wanna know everyone else’s thoughts on it, see if anyone relates to how I feel about it. This isn’t an attack on people who like minimalism, or use it to cope with their anxiety, I’m just briefly explaining my personal experience. You don’t have to like maximalism or minimalism, and it’s all down to everyone’s refined, special tastes! I just personally cannot stand minimalism 🥲.
(P.s. sorry for the rambling, im not good at talking, even over text, so I tend to overexplain myself. Most of this post is a nothing burger lmfao)

Oh yeah no completely agree with you. Growing up I always lived in a more minimalistic house (like I wasn’t even allowed to put posters up on the walls because it would “damage the paint” or whatever) and I always found it so empty and distant and cold. I’d much rather have a small cozy area with small decor all over the place
My house is somewhat minimalistic as well (I mean, not in the full white room sorta thing but there isn’t a bunch of clutter or decore inside. It’s not the worst but certainly not my favourite style.) I just need my future house to be a personalized home, and I’m glad someone sees my point of view. XP
