songs i recommend + my theories on them !

hii! here are some songs i recommend to ppl and little blurbs abt them

1. blue hair, by tv girl

     "she asked me how to be funny, but that's not really something you can teach...shes getting older...so there was nothing i could do to stop her from cutting her beautiful blue hair off."

     this is purely my perception, and its most definitely not approved by tv girl or anything, but i feel like this song isn't just the singer crashing out about a girl cutting her hair off, but a symbol of the narrator helplessly watching a girl changing to fit society's standards. the blue hair might actually just be a symbol of the girl's original authenticity and liberation, and the singer notes how beautiful she was to them when the girl was original and wasn't burdened by society's standards. then, when she cut this "blue hair" off, she also got rid of her original and beautiful true self as she got older to fit society's standards, and to the singer, made her "less beautiful" in a way.

2. the cut that always bleeds, by conan gray

     "...i cant be your lover on a leash every other week when you please. oh, i cant be the kiss that you don't need, the lie between your teeth, the cut that always bleeds..." vs. "...i could be your lover on a leash every other week, when you please. oh, i could be anything you need as long as you don't leave, the cut that always-"

     i feel like this song stabbed me directly in the chest because it really described (imo) a desperate denial to be manipulated, but falling for it in the end out of involuntarily affection. how agonizing it is, this pain. i especially like how conan's voice goes quieter as he sort of pleads with the other party to stay, as if he's being more vulnerable or reluctantly honest.
