So I’m just wondering Whats considerd ”real” emo music?? Like pierce the veil, Mcr, greenday? I really don’t know and I’m new to being ”emo” (i dont rlly label myself) So if someone’s got a emo music playlist or smth on Spotify that would be awsome!! Thanks and Bye!!

There aren't a lot of bands that consider themselves to be emo, but they are staples in an emo person's playlist. Hawthorne heights, my chemical romance, green day, fall out boy are all rock, but they're not emo.
Emo is a subculture of people who listen to multiple subgenres of rock music, more than emo is an actual genre of music.
SORRY i realize after re-reading that i come off as maybe angry or condescending. I do not mean it in that way. I just mean it to explain better what "emo music" might be. Similar to how depeche mode isnt goth, but a lot of goths listen to them.
I'd say to check out hawthorne heights, I don't really hear people talk about them, they're a little bit older, but their popular songs "ohio is for lovers" and "niki FM" are both really good.

Honestly dude all that stuff TECHINCALKY could be considered no dude to the impact on CULTURE like every emo had a band tee of one of those guys however og emo aka 1st wave is the wave that is considered the absolute epitome of emo filled with raw emotional lyrics screams and shows packed with violence some bands for this wave may be bands like rites of spring and Embrace...add me back and message me and i'll give you some fire recs!! i also just need friends

now that’s a hot topic, you’re gonna get a lot of different opinions about what’s “real” emo music. You should just like what you like, it shouldn’t matter what people deem is real and just “commercial”. Like one of my favorite song right now is Succubus by “We’re not friends anymore”, i think it’s post hardcore/emo but i’m not sure.
