Don't even know what category this falls under lol, I hope blogging is fine.
English is not my first language so please correct me if I have errors in my text.
I have no one to talk to about this because most of the people I know would call me weird probably so I'll post it here, in hope to find like minded people.
I ducking love voices and different languages, I could spend all day listening to others talk about whatever and if they have an accent ahhhhhh ngh I love it. Okay that sounds weird but please stay with me I promise it's not just that, I'm a degenerate but not to that extent.
It's about the different sounds and accents, how some languages have harder or softer pronunciation, the little spark of happiness when you listen and you can actually start to understand a few words and it's not a big blob of jibberish anymore. Alone the concept of a language, giving meaning to weird sounds and a whole group of people agreed to give the one specific sound the same meaning and depending where you live the same meaning has totally different sounds, or how some languages have words you can't even translate because if their unique meaning. And getting to learn a new language with a native speaker or being the one to teach another your native language!?!!? Ahh idk I feel so weird because this seems like such a random thing to like and I've never met someone who also made such a big deal about it. I'd like to yap so much more but english is not my first language and I simply lack the words to fully express myself.
Anyways I hope someone can relate, please let me know if you do :')

i totally get it, i studied mandarin while i was at uni and even though i only did up to half of HSK2 (i dropped out lol) it was so fun and fascinating. when i did spanish in secondary school i loved that too. i try to listen to music in loads of languages because like you said hearing the different sounds and accents is really cool.
Mandarin? Was it very difficult to learn? My stepmom is from hongkong and therefore speaks mandarin as her first language. We communicate in a mix from german and english tho ^^

it wasn't too difficult, i don't remember much at this point but the speaking was okay once you got used to the tones.
writing was the most difficult part because there's so many characters T_T listening can be hard too, because it can be hard to tell the tones especially if someone's speaking fast.
reading was pretty easy at the beginning level but it was starting to ramp up with the amount of characters i needed to memorise haha.

I get what you mean, it’s weird that we are all the same species but depending on where we live and our ancestors inhabited makes all unique. How different cultures cook with certain species that are only in that specific region, but somewhere across the country other types of food were being made with an entire different set of ingredients. It’s like you said, a certain group of humans came together and formed a language that evolved with every other person learning. A great example is the word straw in latin american, every country has some other way of saying it because those groups came together and choose that word. This is what makes us so cool, because other creatures all evolved to have the same sort of language with each other, you don’t see a dog not know how to communicate with another dog from across the country because they all have the same set of body language. We also have the same, we can usually judge someone’s mood or what they might be saying by the way stand, their tone, eyebrows, hand gestures. It shows we still are all the same species at the end of the day and we aren’t that different from each other.

I get you, it's so cool when people can speak a foreign language ! The idea that you're able to speak with a whole country you're not a citizen of, that you can go there and just get along is great. And accents are so cool, I love it when I hear someone speak with some strong one ! It always makes me want to know more about the person, where they're from and how they learned the language
Totally agree! I love when someone has an accent even tho i can't stand my own (german) :x

I think everybody tends to find their own accent bad. For me I find people speaking another language with a french accent ridiculous. But the german accent is nice, sehr gut ! :D
