This week was a bit of a slog. Once again, I couldn't go on any bike rides because my bike is busted. In all honesty, it's pissing me off.
The cicadas are still here, a little quiet today because it has been raining. I went on a walk earlier this week though and got covered in them. My partner went with me after begging to go on a walk, but he was frightened by them. I knew it'd happen just like that, so I got a bit upset about it. At that point, regardless, I was still determined to go on a walk because I need to do something whilst my bike is busted. I feel bad still about getting mad, but I used to be the same way when I was a kid. Personally, I was happy to get covered with them, and see it as a sign of good luck and a trust with nature. I'll be very sad when they're gone.
Most of the week was spent studying 日本語, I watched a little Code Lyoko, but mostly sat by my window and watched the cicadas fly around. It was a slow week, as I waited for the Saturday convention. It was Sci-Fi Valley Convention in Altoona, PA. Their biggest one yet, too!
The con itself was fine. I always forget it's a general interests convention and not an anime convention, so I find myself getting bored pretty quickly. I got two figures; Yuki Nagato and Haruhi Suzumiya in their bunny girl outfits. Very happy with that! I adore Yuki Nagato! I almost took a knee and fell to my duty as an otaku and fan with buying some video game merch, but I had to remind myself that a convention really brings out the collector inside of you, and FOMO becomes much more real. I was able to resist, thankfully.
I was only there for around three hours. I spent the last fourty-or-so minutes in the retro gaming area, just watching people play stuff and taking a peek at the machines. I felt bad for the old iMac G3 that was there. It looked like it needed a deep clean. Such a pitiful state for a beautiful piece of technology. What also saddened me was the lack of Nintendo 3DS Streetpasses. I got none this time around. Usually I can snag two or five at these cons, but not this time.
We left the con and went to go get lunch at a nice burger joint. That was the end of today, besides the nap I'm about to take, and then how I'll be watching Lucky Star (2007) with my anime club tonight.
Inside the rest of the week was just waiting. Waiting, talking to a few friends, a few walks, and more waiting.
I did go on a late walk with an old friend, and we had a good time talking. It's a shame when you get older that you need to work around work hours to be together. I wish we could burn it all down sometimes. I hope it all burns down sometime. Sometime soon. LOL.
Trying to live life slowly over this Summer is a blessing but also a curse. I'm hoping it evens itself out soon enough and I can finally, truly relax.
The small interactions I have on SpaceHey are a lot of fun though. Please, message me or leave a comment! Those make my day. The folks I meet here are all wonderful.
