For my mini graduation party, I tried NBC's s'mores-flavored cake. The cake, as explained by NBC, is a "rich chocolate cake baked with HERSHEY'S milk chocolate chips, mini marshmallows and graham cracker crumb, drizzled with silky chocolate sauce and topped with buttery graham streusel". Here are my thoughts:
- The cake part tastes alright. I kind of expected the cake flavor to taste more like a Hershey's chocolate bar since the cake is advertised as being "made with Hershey," but the chocolate chip pieces inside evened it out.
- I wasn't able to taste the marshmallow pieces inside the cake. Maybe it was because the cake was primarily chocolate flavored (cake flavor, chip pieces, and chocolate sauce), so the marshmallow pieces kind of disguised itself with the rest of the sweetness. This also goes for the graham streusel, but at least that gave a nice texture change and a good crumble on top of the cake.
- The cream cheese frosting solos as per usual. Probably will forever be my favorite part of a NBC cake, especially since I have a huge sweet tooth. I was telling my sisters that if NBC sold their cream cheese frosting in stores like those Pillsbury frosting containers, business would boom. (Well, boom even more, they've gotten pretty popular!)
Overall, I give the cake an 7.5/10. I think this would have the same taste profile as their chocolate chocolate chip flavor, and is less expensive since that isn't a limited time flavor. I shall now present my rankings for all the NBC flavors I have tried out thus far.
- Snickerdoodle (Please bring this flavor back 💔)
- Oreo Cookies & Cream
- S'mores
- Red Velvet
