first blog post, let's-a go???

i just joined here on a whim. hello everyone! i wasn't ever on the original myspace, nor do i really lament not being there. so why the hell am i even here?

while i may not have been on myspace, what i definitely was on was deviantart. not 100% comparable, but stick with me here. you see- dA has been the single most impactful site online to me, besides like, youtube or something idk. i had so much fun there, felt a sense of belonging and wonder nearly everywhere i turned, and made great friends. most of my closest online friends i met there. i've yet to find that level of satisfaction and a sense of community online since the site kinda died. sure, it's still up, but it's not the same without people populating the site. don't even get me started on their use of image gen AI, either...

just because dA is dead, doesn't mean i haven't tried to find a new place to spend my time online. i feel like every couple of months i create a new account on a new platform (you couldn't pay me to use twitter, instagram, or tiktok though </3 i don't mean that in a pretentious way but i have my Reasons), hoping something finally sticks. that's exactly what i'm doing now- who knows how long i'll be here? i'm just enjoying the ride. happy to meet people here for however long i stick around, rinse and repeat.

so... what, though? i'm on a site created to recapture the nostalgia of a dead site, in attempt for me to recapture the nostalgia of my own, separate dead site. that's what.

"time is a flat circle", as they say. i saw a tumblr post recently, the gist of it was "it's 2015. you're playing undertale and steven universe is airing. it's 2025. you're playing 'undertale' (...deltarune) and steven universe is airing (well, they announced a spin off, anyway)". it's a strange feeling seeing things repeat like that, especially 2 pieces of media that i enjoyed lots. ANYWAY deltarune is a whole other beast in terms of my thoughts on it but i'll save that for another time perhaps... tenna my beloved though...

hell, as i write this, i'm even listening to this undertale remix i had on repeat in, what, middle school? (speaking of, the fact that a sizeable population of this site seems to be fresh out of middle school was not something i was expecting..! i thought only OG myspace users yearned for myspace recreations) anyhow, provided my music code works properly, it's the same song you're hearing rn. (EDIT: ok it doesn't it's "Snowdin Shopkeep Theme Toni Leys Remix")

it seems nostalgia is making a comeback, but then again, when has it ever not been that way?

does this really mean anything? hard to say, but it's been fun talking for a bit. onward, on my journey to finding a new home online~

enough about nostalgia!! you, yes you reading this, what's something NEW (or just new to you) that you've been finding joy in recently?
