The book rant thingyy (sink or swim by Veronica Agarwal and lee durfey-lavoie).

TW: ED, homophobia, gay people

I genuinely love sink or swim by Veronica Agarwal and lee durfey-lavoie. The characters are very relatable and realistic to me. I'm gonna be focusing on the three main characters, heather, max, and ty I think ty is the most relatable and realistic to my experience. Ty was great at swimming but he broke his arm and gained weight, making him insecure and less motivated to swim. (Ty is the one in the red shirt, max is in the green shirt, and heather is wearing a blue dress) So now he's not motivated to swim and this leads him to the thought that he is a failure, he ghosts all his friends and max gets really, sad. Also one more thing I LOVE MAX SM MAX IS SO AWESOME I LOVE MAX . also I'm not a big fan of the art style I but sometimes it's fine it's not bad tho. So they go to camp (like the whole school)

So heather being the most awesomest she is, she confronts ty and says this:

So yeah uhhhh. I love heather, the characters are so lovable. Anyway so this book is amazing,

 it really does show anxiety in young kids and there are these moments in the lunchroom and the best way to explain it is, ty doesn't eat, he feels like he would be a failure is he ate, like everyone would judge him, at least that's what I interpreted. So he forms a eating disorder and doesn't eat in fear of gaining wait and being a 'failure' for the swim team, his family, and himself. ive struggled with ed in 7th-8th grade, and found this extremely well written for a children's book (7-12 y.o I think) and its so amazing in explaining these things and helping people like me. Also its so hard to capture this yet they played it out in this story with such ease and I love it. So I'm not allowed to read this book cus it has GAYS and LESBIAN and BISEXUALS and TRANS (scary spooky alert!!!) so yeah then Max and ty get assigned to be together for a project (and heather too) and max and ty still haven't made up yet. So they end up getting mad at each other and heather says sm abt being upset and disappointed in both of them and she says sm about her girlfriend and then heather and the girlfriend leave. And then Max and ty like spend a long time venting to each other and they become friends again but it's the swim competition now ...

So ty is going to wash his clothes for the competition in an hour, he puts his clothes on and waits for them and once they are done he starts to doubt himself and his body. He has a panic attack and the race is about to start he's still in the laundry room on the floor having and panic attack and the race ends and he's just crying on the floor still there. Max and heather look everywhere for him and max is MAD and he finds him and comforts him obviously, and then they talk and do camp stuff and near the end they kiss then go to heathers guitar show and yeah. 

Also the only reason I made this is not only cus I love the book it's because I had a dream that my mom found I I read this book again cus she told me not too, also if you want updated and corrected book thingys go to my blog next time u see one of these, anyway to end this off I'm gonna put a funny review here:

LIKE HELP?!? they kissed once it's only the page she showed lol I'm gonna start referencing this lol, I get the scene can be awkward for some but it's not bc it's gay it's just because it's written really awkwardly but it's meant to be awkward theyre 8th grade (like 12-13)
