i lose a part of me when someone or alot of people mischaracterize a seemingly shy/awkward character and think they are all of a sudden this super shy, pigeon toed, knees bent, horribly stuttering, blushes at everything uwu character...

like it fr be like this: 

a character: "Hey! Im kind of awkward with these people because this is the first time meeting them... I want to be friends with them but im having a hard time holding a conversation due to my anxiety."

anyone/a fandom: "OMG THEYRE SO SO SO SHY AND SO CUTE THEY ARE JUST A BABY THAT NEEDS PROTECTING" 

and now, theres nothing wrong with seeing a character with these tendencies to be cute and observing their current characteristics. Im more concerned about this:

Someone: "Hey, im blank, whats your name?"

Canon: "Oh! ...H-hey! Im ----, it's nice to meet you." 

Fanon: "H-Hi.. I-Im ----, its n-nice t-t-to *trips and falls* A-agh, im s-so awkward, s-sorry...!

Like im sorry, but people/characters are/can be multi-faceted !! Im definitely overreacting and unnecessarily commentating on fandom culture lol. But honestly, as someone who also has anxiety and can have a hard time interacting with people, i can really relate to said characters ! AND I CAN SAY, i wouldnt, and people alike wouldnt, be overly "shy" like that ! Just because someone has one moment of shyness doesnt mean they are entirely like that. It can be true, but most likely its not.
