How bad could things get?

So no matter your political leanings or place in the world I think it’s pretty safe for me to say that things could definitely be better. What with riots happening in LA and immigrants (illegal or legal) being deported as just SOCIAL things that is happening which doesn’t even mention the diminishing job market and technology like AI which, while it can’t replace humans yet, is starting to become an actual issue that some companies think CAN replace humans, so things are starting to look a bit tougher for the future. So how far can things fall before they get better? Or do you guys think it will get better already and things are already starting to improve?

Anyways I was just curious about what yall thought love you all lmk <3

I don’t want this to come off as apathetic or distasteful, I can’t speak for other countries or their people, and I’m not speaking for my people either. But I’m speaking for myself and this is what I have to say.

I don’t support either sides of any of the current wars going on to be very frank. War, to me, is too normalized, and should be used as a last resort. Now I know life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows and there are pleanty of complications and laws many countries have to follow to ensure due process (such as UN, NATO, EU, and other big organiaztions). However I don’t think world conflicts should be an easy process either. You run a country, and you have laws placed to avoid past events, it’s obviously going to take a lot of negotiating and conversation and checks and balances before it even gets to a point where both parties are happy. While it’s slightly inconvient and stressful, I think that time is so much more worth it than hurting innocent people and forciablly drafting people into war just to die for a cause they might not even think is right (drafting is a whole other topic I’m not gonna touch on, but lets say I don’t think too kindly on it for the most part).

As for deportations, I think they’re unjust and have lost any semblance of ‘keeping drugs and dangerous people out of the country’. There’s a BIG difference in making sure illegal substances and dangerous people don’t get past and targeting innocent people. It’s unjust. Besides, borders are a human construct, and basically mean nothing if you really think about it. It just tells you who owns the *legal* right to one land and who doesn’t, but if we were to remove government and countries from the equation, borders like that don’t really exist. But I do understand some people don’t see it that way, and to that I say, at least make it easier for people to get past. Nobody should be on a decade long hold just to live a better life. I understand background checks to make sure no one is trying to hurt anyone but after that, and some basic identification and making sure they understand the laws, they should be free to go in the country. Maybe a month long tops should be the limit wait time? I dunno, anything over a month is rididulous, in my opinion. I also agree with the term ‘you can’t remove people from stolen land’, I think this holds a strong truth as well but that’s a topic for another time.

In regards of the economy and AI.. well.. the economy is just.. bad. There’s really no saving it, and I think this will be the end of an era (if you catch my drift). It’s just too inflated to ever rise back again, I think. And the way money is being handled and distributed doesn’t make much sense either. The cost of living is ridiculous, and buying a simple bag of chips should not cost 4 dollars. About the AI stuff, I think it has gotten out of hand. I do not wish to see AI be used on most things. Such as this ad I saw about someone saying they run a bike company and they’re trying to use as much AI as possible. What I wonder is, what if that AI makes a horrible mistake and someone ends up with life altering deformities and injuries because of it? What then? AI is not always reliable, and it takes a human brain to truly understand the complexities of how a bicycle should be made. A lot less malfunctions are to happen if it’s made by humans, than AI. A good example is how AI sometimes mistakenly gives you incorrect answers when you ask them basic questions, or they forget commands. This is completely different than coding, which takes genuine skill and can in fact be helpful because it uses the human brain to put in said codes, while also making less labour necessary in work. Not only that, but AI truly does put artists out of buisness, especially with how advanced it has gotten. It’s truly sad to see, because some people truly wish to advance in art - but will get overshadowed or wrongfully flamed online for AI art. Do I think AI can sometimes be a good thing? Yes. But it should not be **this** normalized and used. I think chatbots are perfectly fine, should there be a disclaimer that things an AI says and asks you to do could impact how you behave and socialize, and may have a potential for being incorrect? Yes. But do I also think it’s entertaining? Also yes. With chatbots, I don’t think it’s nearly as harmful as AI art or AI in the workplace. As it is simply just chatting with you, and the actions you take are simply not the bot’s fault, it is up to you and your own self preservation to keep yourself safe and know if a chatbot is giving you incorrect information.

But these are just my takes on it, if there is any misinformation or any clarification points you would like to make, or to talk about any of my opinions, or your opinions, please let me know. I am open to any and all points of view, as I am not hateful towards people who disagree with me.

(( and not to mention, my mother is from Croatia, and I know we are not the ones 100% targeted fully right now, but it’s scary to know that they could turn and take my mom at any moment, too. My mother has done nothing to hurt anyone, nothing illegal, and she’s a legal citizen, but I suppose in the eyes of the government, none of those factors would stop them from taking her. It’s terrifying to think about, and I don’t know what I’d do without her if it were to happen to her. My heart goes out to the families being wrongfully deported right now (illegal or legal). This shit is fucked.

Thanks for your input yeah no lowkey we’re kind of fucked up rn BUT HOPEFULLY this will make way for a new era of prosperity and peace! Maybe…

I can truly hope so. Like I said this might be an end of an era for the US as a country. And even if it isn’t, many of the newer generations are growing up, and this might give us leverage in years time. To at least try and fix what is going on. :’) but as for other countries, I can’t say much since I’m not from there and I’m not going to speak for people that I shouldn’t be speaking for, but I hope their issues are sorted out as well, and all this world BS stops :’D

Umm well I guess we implemented AI into every single facet of every single company and field in existence we also had those rockets that came back down to earth right? That was kind of cool wasn’t it?

Some people really like AI. I suspect it will just be made less useful over time and be used for propaganda purposes, but still work great for governments, etc. As far the rockets, it doesn't really affect me personally. Is the average person really going to have spaceship tickets for Mars or other planets? Heck, they can't even seem to bring people to the moon again, at least not publicly.

I think there are some actual uses for AI it actually would be an amazing tool to sturdy material (not like “oh what’s the answer to this question” BUT WXTUALLY TESTING YOU on the material and telling you what you did wrong etc). I can agree spaceships aren’t going to be a thing we will have for a LONG time but isn’t it still kind of nice that there is advancements happening there? And that yk our atmosphere isn’t getting fully cluttered with spare spaceship parts and what not

AI definitely has many uses, I'm just not so sure it will be useful for getting to the truth in all cases, especially if it's political or metaphysical in nature... or just involves an asteroid coming to destroy the earth. These space pursuits might result in something interesting later. Maybe we'll see it in our lifetime, if we live long enough.

I sure hope I live long enough to see those I want to walk on a planet I was never supposed to be allowed to walk on

I think we’re just fucked as a country. I always wanna have hope tho. Ai replacing us in a capitalist system is just going to deprioritize human beings. If ai is getting so good at almost everything then why would I need a job to live? Post labor economics is generational torture. The LA shit is kinda scary tho Trump testing the waters for faschism which might make life worse for us in a different kind of way. Imagine the idea of people getting abducted as normal with no opposition (that he’s trying to get rid of)…….

Yeah this is mainly what I’m afraid of the things you mention here. It feels like everything is kind of on the VERY EDGE. Like things could tip over at any moment but I get that that’s also been the same in the past and we’ve survived all of that so maybe we could survive this too? I just don’t know if it’ll end with a recession or if it goes much further down or if it’ll get better quickly right now
