I don’t believe and it sucks

I’ve been raised a Christian all my life, more or less. The teachings are there however going to church is an on and off thing. Recently stuff has happened in my family’s life to where they wish to go back to church and send me to youth group.

I hate it. Hate church, hate youth group. I hate all of it period. I hate Christianity with a passion.

Now believe what you want to believe. I’m not shitting on people who are Christians. I’ve just gone through experiences with this religion that leave a foul taste in my mouth.

However I do not want to go. But I can’t speak my mind because my family will get upset. They’ll ground me, take away my things all because I have my own opinion. All because I don’t follow their beliefs.

Going there though and trying to listen to people talk about god, talk about a man I don’t believe in makes me want to cry. Because I feel guilty. I feel sinful because I still have that fear in the back of my mind that I will be going straight to hell. Because what else can you think when that’s all you’ve known growing up? Sin and shame if you don’t follow “the Heavenly Father”.

I don’t know what I believe. But I do know it’s not in god. But they’ll never understand and it pisses me off. Because the moment they realize I don’t believe. That I’m not a Christian. They’ll disown me. And it scares me. I love my family, but I don’t love god like they do.

I just can't believe in a being that is said to have made everything and decides who is good and who is bad. Because the logic in my mind does not make sense. In the bible, it says that a man shall not lie with another man, and it is punished by eternity in hell, yet emotions are not something you can control. So with that logic, those people were doomed to be in hell from the start and have no control over their fate. It just doesn't make sense to me, and I do not want to follow a religion like that. People who do are free to do as they please and I will not give them shit for it, it's just from personal expierence.

People have the free will to lie and hell is a result of unrepentant sinning

Ah..?

You said that it's not someone's fault that they lie. But lying is something we can choose to do, and so if we repeatedly do it, and seek no repentance, then we go to hell

Oh! No lie as in two men shall not sleep together/be together. The parts about how being gay is bad in the Bible.

What's that got to do with lying

by chuddie; ; Report

It’s nothing to do with lying as in not telling the truth but as in lying down or lying in bed with someone…? •-•

I'm saying that telling a lie to someone is a venial sin. Lying in bed with a man is a mortal sin.

I don't know your family or church so I don't know how they'd react or what is the best advice. Try to remember that their beliefs aren't something they chose, they're consistent with a worldview they hold. So if they think you're going to hell, that isn't reflective on how good of a person you are, and they're only telling you because they don't want to believe their child is in danger of something eternally bad. They're trying to save you from something you don't believe in, but that doesn't make it any less real to them.

That being said, you're now developing your own worldview, and fear isn't going to change that. You need to pursue truth for yourself, and you can gleam knowledge from your parents, from your church, and from the internet, because all of them can be right about some things and wrong about other things. Take your time, try your best to be respectful, and one day you'll be old enough to be around whoever you want to be around.

I'm sorry you've found yourself in such an uncomfortable situation and wish you the best.
-A friendly Christian

if you're family loves a imaginary god so much to the point they would disown you if you told them you don't believe in it, that... says a lot about them... christians are scary people. they're like snakes, only pretend love one another cus its what "god" told them to do but will not hesitate to bash someone for not sharing the same beliefs as them. of course its not all of them but its a scary amount of them that will kill babies if they thought its what god wanted. my advised: just tell and if they hate you for it, you might be better off without them
