Mass consumption and AI harm a lot of people and I'm scared and pissed

I'm not sure how else to put it but AI being normalized in art spaces genuinely makes me angry because AI steals art from other artists and then makes an image out of probability and stolen work. Seeing ads for ai music software makes me genuinely pissed because music holds a very close place to my heart. MUSIC IS MEANT TO BE MADE BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE. Music is NOT meant to be made by AI generators and engines stealing years of work and creativity from millions of different musicians and genres to be sold and treated like an item you can buy and then throw away when you don't like it anymore.

What frustrates me more is how a lot of disabled artists are ignored when AI defenders use the excuse that "Not every person has the time or resources to learn art. So, I use AI because it makes it accessible". Because using ChatGPT to write a novel doesn't make you a writer, you have to learn to write a story and to put your ideas onto a page. A lot of artists don't have time or money THATS LITERALLY HOW THE TERM "STARVING ARTIST" WAS COINED! but even so they still had resources by other artists for other artists. Ignoring the work of disabled artists and then using the disabled community as a shield for making an AI generated slop picture and calling it "art" is hypocritical and full of shit.

Art isn't a thing to sell and buy. Art isn't a thing you can produce in bulk at factories. Life isn't something to be mass-produced. AI only benefits the wealthy who buy and manufacture AI software that takes our environments resources (like water), steals the works of millions of artists, takes jobs across thousands of fields, and keeps us under the bullshit notion that we don't need to be creative because we have machines that can regurgitate and feed us the same thing over and over again.

We normalize consumption so much to the point it puts our planet at a point of climate decline. Over-consumption is a very real problem that needs to be addressed not just on an environmental standpoint but also in how it affects us directly. Micro-trends almost dictate what you do in your spare time, what you wear, the music on the radio, and even then, it's a MICRO trend so it'll disappear when we get tired of it. With over-consumption it can add onto toxic fan-culture because of how it results in celebrities being treated like commodities and not like people.

I would rather have mpreg art of two shitty presidents made in MS paint than read poems no matter how good generated by an AI because I know that mpreg art was made by a person. Go outside, do something, make something, be creative please for the love of god.

TLDR: AI and overconsumption are shit and are unethical. Art isn't a commodity to be bought and mass-produced. Be creative, and to be cringe is to be free.
