There is not a single social media platform that I fit in. I don't get the support I deserve.
"Social media isn't about getting attention" Fuck off. We all create something, right? And the one of the primary reasons we do so, so we make it have value, and that value can be a like or a positive comment. The creation can be something simple as writing a blog article or drawing fan-art of a character you appreciate.
A lot of people, including myself, are desperate for that. But for crappy reasons, we just, for the most part, don't receive.
I miss the times when I used to create something silly and it will get loved by many, even on a platform with many users. I don't know what happened so people just move away. And, it's not helping that I also lose people I had connections with.
I don't know when it will be the time where I have value, maybe when I die?

We are literally social creatures, everyone wants to feel loved. If you say you don't post for others you're almost always lying to yourself.

i think if youre creating for the express purpose of getting attention, youre doing it wrong. when you create, its to put a bit of yourself into your project. its about expressing yourself and learning more about yourself
HOWEVER! getting your creation(s) out there and having people not only see but engage with that little bit of you, it feels good! i really wish people in general were more supportive of artists, especially small artists. a kind word or two means a lot to an artist who spent so much time and energy on the final product. peoples' unwillingness to engage with art unless its from a big/well known artist is sad. to put all that work into something and get radio silence in return is heartbreaking
i think every creator should do it for themselves first and foremost, and not be totally preoccupied with views. but people should also definitely be more supportive of artists!! even if its fanart of media that you havent even heard of, just saying "wow i love how you painted this" or "this is so dynamic, how cool!" can mean the world to an artist!!
I said "one of the primary reasons", not just the reason.
I am a beginner artist, and while yes, drawing art can be for myself, but if I draw multiple times, upload my art to the internet for others to see, and not get engagements at all, then what's the point of keeping myself going?
Your other words are fair, though. That's what I meant.

oh it was just a general statement, i didnt mean to imply that engagement is your only reason for creating. sorry!!

THIS!
"Social media isn't about getting attention" it's literally called SOCIAL media for a fucking reason, yet trying to socialize on any SM is about as easy as finding a needle in a haystack that's been colored gray and without a flashlight, it's fucking impossible.
And it's worse when you don't have anyone irl to talk to either, that loneliness just sinks in the longer you're alive: I'm surprised people still touch grass nowadays, that's how bad it is.
shit just went downhill after 2020 istfg...
Thank you for understanding me. You've said it better than I have.
