Theoretical Method To Escape The Smart Phone Addiction

I think it's really obvious, but you can just leave your phone, the smart phone you currently have, in one spot. Like, always. I do see the issue of not having a cell phone when you leave the house, but hey if you're really committed it would be fine. Unless you have a flip phone or something.

Anyways, the idea comes from the sentiment people share of why computers were nice in the 2000s/2010s, which is that it was a place that you could leave. I think that is my ultimate goal, is to be able to leave it. Anyway, you have all those things you love. Social media is there, if you keep notes or to-do lists, etc. You would have to replace some things, an MP3 player, an alarm clock, etc. where you need it. However, I think it's good to not rely on one thing for so many parts of your life.

It's such a simple solution, but it's one I don't think many consider. If it's out of the way, in a less than ideal spot, you can assure yourself you won't be stuck doom-scrolling for hours and hours. Sitting at a desk can become uncomfortable, so simply at your desk is something to consider.

The most important thing is that you can leave it. Like using a computer, you have to decide if that's how you want to spend your time. If your friends invite you to hang out, you have to choose between using Tik Tok and spending time with your friends.

You might say, well why have a smart phone at all? Just use a computer! To that I say, I might. But I have a Tik Tok streak to keep with my friends or they'll kill me and since I have the phone already, I might as well use it for something.

But what do you think dear reader? Would you consider trying such a simple solution?

i really liked your point on not relying on one device for several things!!! theres no way it can be healthy for us to have access to so many different things readily on one device. not only do i feel a lot of things lose their spark in this way, but companies can take advantage of this SO easily to make a profit. spotify subscriptions, netflix/disney+ subscriptions, in-game mobile game purchases... hell, even the insane amount of advertisements used in games and on social media. i feel like things would be much simpler with single-purpose devices!!! an mp3 player means you can get the exact song you want, no ads, etc. plus, they're totally rad!!!
