FINALS WEEK

rant.

Anyone else taking finals this week?

I'm a junior undergrad in Anthropology and this quarter might be the end of me. My professors are cool, but I think their coolness is a detriment to the students, a.k.a. me! IDK if I missed the transition when teachers stopped giving guidelines or at least rubrics for essays and projects, but apparently that's a new fun thing they just decided to do :)))

Correction: This one prof has decided to do. The other one just doesn't post your grades so you have no idea if you're passing or failing and has assignments due at 5pm. But that's for another post.

Getting back on track to this one professor... I wanna like him, I really do, but JESUS CHRRRIST *Frank Gallagher voice*  His go-with-the-flow style of teaching is driving me up the wall! Even when people ask him for things like word-count, min/max length, or any formatting instructions he'll reply with a," Well it's worth this many points so you should judge it based on that." or.. my favorite reply of his that was on a discussion board about the final paper where someone asked for formatting instructions, he replied," Refer to the midterm instructions." THERE WERE NO MIDTERM INSTRUCTIONS, ONLY PROMPTS!!!

 I know at this point I've been in school for a while and generally know what is expected of me, but every teacher has ever so slightly different standards and running into this frkn guy is pushing me over the eeeeedge.

I have him for two different classes, one about Neanderthals and the other about lithic technology (stone tools) where we actually get to bang rocks together and make razor-sharp flakes that can be used to cut stuff- it's been super interesting and fun! HOWEVER, the final project for the class was so open ended that it baffled me. We had to make a conference style poster arguing something, anything about Lithics. This may seem like an awesome way to do it for some, but at this point I am so burnt out just GIVE ME A PROMPT! Please! I'm begging you! I'll argue whatever you want!  So basically my poster is shit, but it's better than turning in nothing:)

Additionally, throughout the quarter we've only had a couple assignments since a lot of our time is spent making and measuring the flakes we produce. These assignments have also had incredibly vague instructions, he really just provides prompts for written response assignments without any formatting instructions. I feel like I've been doing the most on those to make sure I don't fail this class and I have no idea if I'm meeting the bare minimum or stretching myself out for nothing.

With this final project I'm just like... ya know what. Here's a shitty half-assed poster. Enjoy!

Anywayyyyys, thanks for reading. For anyone else going through finals rn I commend you and wish you all the luck I can't keep for myself.
