Dear Britney

Today is your 40th birthday. I hope you have the best day.  I know this birthday will be different from the rest because you finally get to live. You deserve all the good things coming your way. You are the most beautiful person inside and out, and I hope that you are truly happy. 

When I was in 5th grade, I went to your Drive Me Crazy Tour concert in Birmingham. It was my first concert. I had floor seats close to the stage. The music was so loud, and I was so excited to see you. Ever since, I've always enjoyed watching you. You haven't been back to Birmingham since then. It's okay I wouldn't come back here either. 

You've always been my favorite artist. No one sounded, danced, or looked like you when Baby One More Time first came out. You changed the pop industry completely and set the bar extremely high. I loved that you were influenced by Janet and Michael. Yall are the three greatest! From a young age, you inspired me so much to want to dance and perform. As a kid with no friends, you gave me hope and motivation to be anything. You made me feel like I wasn't alone. You made me want to break out of my shell and come alive. You were my friend in my head. You were my top8 myspace friend (lol). I remember watching your videos repeatedly learning everything. I would record any show you were on and rewatch it so many times. I miss getting excited to buy your cds and dvds as a kid. Anytime I buy your merch today, I get excited like a 12yo. I would buy magazines that you were on and learn everything about you. I've always been so in love with your personality. When you perform, you shut it down. I just knew, as a kid, one day I will meet you and get to perform with you. I still want to collab and do a video. It was such a childhood dream that I still haven't let go of.

More than anything you are the strongest person.  I will always speak highly of you. Through everything that people have put you through, you remained true to yourself. When times were at a low point, you picked yourself up and kept going no matter what. You have the biggest heart, and I know you will always be protected. This world is evil, and you've been such a positive light to me. Your music got me through everything as a teen and still do as a adult. In the Zone is still my favorite.

I've always been one to mention your name in any conversation. I think every person I've ever met think I'm crazy. Everyone I meet knows you're apart of my being. I named my jeep Britney Jean because I got it on 12/2/2016 (not even on purpose). I even bring you up in job interviews as example of someone who works hard and who I aspire to be. People laugh all the time, but I really don't give a fuck. It's the truth. who else would I want to be like? You're just the first person who pops into my mind. 

I love you so much. I love wearing your merch all of the time. You're everything to me. One day we will meet and have the best time. I know your sons are almost grown, but I'm still here if you need a babysitter or an assistant. I hope you have that baby girl that you've always wanted. Sam better not fuck it up. I'm so proud of the person you have become. I hope you continue to heal. You are such a bad ass and a fighter. Thank you for being there for me. I'm always here for you.
