My Thoughts On Creativity

Hello, and welcome to my very first blog post! Please excuse if it sounds weird to read, I already typed this down before but Spacehey glitched and deleted my lovely writing...

I recently saw a post by a user named foxgirlhell about the terrifying lack of creativity in todays youth. That post reminded me of a video I had watched a couple of months ago when I was feeling pretty burnt out. In my opinion, I'm a very creative person but these past five or so months I have not been in the best mental space, so my normal creative pursuits were not fulfilling me during that time. That was until I found a video called 'How to become creative as an Artist'.

After watching that video, I had regained my creative spark. I genuinly think it changed my whole perspective, if not life. That may sound dramatic but creativity is in my daily life so it kinda did.

Anyways, the YouTuber talked about how people nowadays are far less creative. This is where consumption v. creation comes in. The more you consume, the less you create. This is not to say that you should never consume, just limit it.

Here are some notes for those who want them or didn't watch the video

1. Limit consumption

2. Don't go after validation, once you do that creating will become more enjoyable

4.Practice component alteration

"What is component alteration?" you might ask if you didn't watch the video. Well, it is exactly what it sounds like. An example that was used in the video was a song. Now, you can break that song down into so many different components. for example: BPM, tempo, rhythm, genre, vocal tone/texture, language, time signature, etc. The more detailed you get with this the more ideas you will come up with. Then you have all these pieces that you can now tweak to your liking..Anyway you want! there are literally INFINITE possibilities..You could create something that no one has even thought of!!
