Friends

I personally started to think and realize a bit how hard it is to get with other people. See, for example, I got overwhelmed and borderline deranged from all these crowded social media apps, and so I found this place called SpaceHey. At first, I thought it was just some old fandom—I was just going to make it my safe space and enjoy reading old teenagers' blogs. But I got a bit surprised that it's still alive, and teenagers are in there for the same reasons too. Fast forward—I have read and enjoyed many blogs and tried to make friends, most importantly. But I concluded that... it won't work. That's not how you make friends—you don't go up to strangers out of the blue and just start talking to them. Why would they even respond if they don't know you, and they aren't interested anyway? Do mind that there is no common ground between you. Yes, you are from different cultures and completely different continents, but that doesn't prevent friendship. Friendship needs a common ground. Why do you think some people don’t have any friends? Because most of them do nothing—they are not into any hobbies, no passion, no will to live. They are not even a good person to themselves to start with, so there is no reason for you to connect with them. They don’t even have a personality you can discuss opinions with. But here's the other thing I figured out—racism. I’m not talking about "Oh, he is the wrong color, go capture him." No, I’m talking about how people will always put their kind upfront. Yes, you can be friendly to new people or others from different cultures and countries, but you will always choose to spend your time with your kind because with them, you feel a sense of belonging. You’ve been through the same things, you’ve grown up in the same land, and adopted the same cultural heritage, so you feel like a big chunk of getting to know them is already done. You know what they have been through to an extent—you can relate, and that’s what makes it a lot easier.
