Modern social media platforms and the trends that come with have been detrimental for unique subcultures. It's no longer about enjoying the music, dressing however one likes, forming an authentic community; it's the image of personality. I say carry on being yourself, hopefully they'll get bored. Isn't all too difficult distinguishing the imitators from those genuinely interested in something, so gatekeep accordingly I say

eu não faço parte de nenhuma subcultura nem nada assim, mas admiro cada uma. isso realmente é irritante! tipo, você nem gosta disso mano, no máximo tá fazendo isso pra chamar atenção, querer ser diferente ou porque a pessoa que você gosta disse que gosta da subcultura. This!!! I hate when people try to say that they can be goth/punk while conservative at the same time, ignoring the whole point of the subcultures. Politics makes so much of punk, it's whole point was to be anti-establishment and so many other things that fight against conservative views and fascism. And goth came from punk/post-punk so same thing applies. Punk and goth are about the music and ideals, not the clothes. It's just a costume whenever someone tries to say they are goth or punk just because they dress like it. Also hate when people buy pre-made crust pants or battle vest/jackets, that goes against the whole point. DIY came from punk, the whole point is to Do It Yourself.

i dont know much about subculture and i dont go outside, claim myself as something like that. but i do enjoy them, like music or clothing. overall, i just like the cloth because it feels good on me, my fashion choie, or i do love the energy that metal brings, and yes i enjoy black metal as well. lmao, anyway, sometime people just assume me into one thing like: "oh are you punk, emo, etc,..." its annoying and i have to explain to them that it just my fashion choice :v

I his myself till middle school to become emo, listening to post hardcore and screamo.. now the people who bullied me for being emo.. now call themselves alt ( wears black contacts and a black tanktop while supporting current red politics, flammed me for being democratic ) these micro trend hoppers need to hop off this millenia substyle, hardcore is not a costume !
