The Dead Milkmen

Recently my friend recommended to me the band The Dead Milkmen, my first impression being the song Serrated Edge from the album "Big Lizard In My Backyard". There's something about these kinds of songs that just scratch my brain: I love the whiny singing and that happy-go-lucky way Rodney Linderman has of talking. Also, of course, their bass-heavy music is MUAH (totally not biased as a bass player). Dave Schulthise, the player of said bass, unfortunately developed tendinitis in both hands and due to this complication The Dead Milkmen broke up in 1995. That is just. So sad. It's also one of the reasons I freak out whenever I'm playing and my hand cramps- I'm not trying to be the next victim. One other thing about David Schulthise, the guy had a PhD in economics Purdue University, so that's pretty cool. In 2004 he OD'd, taken far too soon at 47 years old.

Anyways, my favorite album, after a little exploring, would be "Bucky Fellini". Their intro song, The Pit, is so wonderfully stupid, it sounds like a cartoon theme song in the best way. It's one of their less heavy albums, I'd say, but definitely just heavy enough. There's less bass in this album, but I can forgive that because Joe Genaro sounds like he's having the time of his life on the guitar, especially in his solo on Big Time Operator. It's just fun to listen to, the kind of music you can dance in your room to.

This one's kinda short, I guess it's more of a rant then a deep dive, I'm still figuring this whole thing out.

Stay loud (=
