since when were kids not allowed to be kids?

no fancy blog layout, and no, im not back from my hiatus. just felt like putting my two cents here again because it seems like we're back to shaming children for using this site and for being children. like i didnt even take a break for a week and i come back to see my friends arguing over maturity and children existing on this platform.

and even during my hiatus ive noticed a shit ton of like. hatred towards kids just being kids. on all platforms.

*this blog is not aimed at anyone specifically, but rather a broader group of ppl who for some reason have a whole lotta room in their lungs to scream some very empty words at people.

also just for older ppl in general because how dare children exist!

so sit your stupid ass down and listen. (if you want to. i cant make anybody read this so do whatever the fuck you want.)

**im not saying that children shouldn’t be safe on the internet. Internet safety is a whole other thing.

But when it gets to a point where even if they ARE being safe yet they’re still being ridiculed, that’s a whole other issue.

*edit: sorry if this makes no sense but i am kinda just done with stuff rn. feel free to argue or call me an idiot or whatever :P

irl: child at local playground, trampoline park, or other public space. minding their business. or playing with friends. playing pretend, pretending to be princesses, ponies, cats, tv show characters, WHATEVER. just being kids.

boom, in a youtube cringe comp or on a tiktok and ppl berating them in the comments calling them "cringe" and "autistic". Like half of the stuff I see on cringe comps (or at least the ones on my fyp) are like ppl taking videos of children from afar. They never consented to being on that video and now, people are going to ridicule them behind their back and later in life, they may stumble upon it.

online: so youre angry that kids are playing pretend and pretending to be a kid in the 2000s. so youre pissed off at a child who is on a computer pretending to be a fictional character.

you go on a 40 page rant calling them cringe and autistic.

since when is it so inherently evil and horrible and unspeakable to HAVE FUN AS A CHILD?

im sorry that you want everybody to be a miniature 40-year old philosopher the moment they come out of the womb. maybe in some universe, your wish will be granted and now you can live in solace that somewhere out there, that version of spacehey exists.

when i was a 10 year old, i will admit it. I liked pokemon a lot (and i still do.) pretended to be ash ketchum's rival and tried to collect every pokemon card i could and made up a super overpowered team and everything.

when i was 11, i liked harry potter. pretended to be a witch and kill voldemort (because i didnt finish the series and i didnt know harry killed him first).

when i was 12, warrior cats. i pretended to be a bloodclan cat and jump around in the park and fight off thunderclan cats.

when i was 13, i liked beyblade. I pretended to be a world-class blader and battled everyone at my school and pretended that the one of the characters from the show had a crush on my beyblade OC. (she was an all-powerful purple haired cat girl who could turn into the agip/eni 6-legged dog logo from the gas station pump. i am not making this up.)

tldr, i get how it feels to be a kid. coming from someone who turns 18 in less than 6 months.

its normal to play pretend as a kid. its normal to want to experience things you cant in real life. and this brings me back to the point of this "2000s cringe craze"

this is literally the same thing but online. i didnt have access to like. ACTUAL social media until I was a highschooler. children are getting online much earlier. i dont agree with it, but its a thing thats been existing for a while :P I don’t know why people are just starting to realise that social media being in the hands of younger ppl is an issue.

so get over it.

as long as they are not harming themselves, ppl around them, or the areas around them, let the kids be kids.

and if you cant, well then im sorry that you never experienced fun as a child and i hope you can come to terms with it someday.

mind you, half of you all saying this were literally not even alive for the 2000s either and youre pulling up with ur "i am a real emo" ahh.

like..

boo hoo, i-im sosososo sorry that im not your definition of 2000s........  im sorry god almighty emo king who made their spacehey account 2 minutes ago....im so sorry that im expressing myself the way i do... might as well just leave because i dont deserve to exist in the same space as you... :((((

NO! i do what i want cuz this is MY space, and its MY rules! (haha get it myspace)

just as YOUR space has YOUR rules! so dont intrude on my page and i wont intrude on yours. if it bothers you so much that I exist, just block me! and block EVERYBODY else too! ^.^

instead of churning out useless blogs, maybe get to work on blocking half the userbase, and once you dont see all the "stupid poser ppl" profiles, you will be much happier. trust me :)

also, u people keep saying "i want children to grow up quicker and stop being cringe and stop pretending to blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah"

and then you pull up with the

"erm.. children these days are sooooooo weird...like stop putting on makeup...and stop wanting a boyfriend.... and stop going to sephora......"

well, MAAAAYBE, maybe just maybe, ITS BECAUSE YOU KEEP FUCKING DISCOURAGING THEM FROM BEING KIDS!!!

many children are sensitive. sometimes, if you tell them harshly to stop doing something, they will stop, and they will try to live up to your expectations.

online, if a child is told multiple times that theyre being cringe, that nobody loves them, for them to gtfo and grow up, they will turn to OTHER online sources for that!!!

and its just a stupid cycle imo.

to be cringe is to be free. my parents would always tell me that i was being annoying or that my interests were stupid and people would judge me for them. as long as i didnt take those words to heart, i was genuinely happy.

but once i started listening, i couldnt go back to being as bubbly i used to be.

to be cringe is to be free is true, but only when you are (or choose to be) oblivious to the outside world.

at one point, we all grow up to some extent. ppl mature over time. there is no need to rush someone to become "more mature" over them simply just like. pretending to be something harmless.

anyways, i am going to go offline again in order to regain some of my sanity (thats literally why i took a break from here)

but this time, im gonna take a break from the internet as a whole. get off this stupid shit that tells me to act one way or another no matter where i go.

see you losers later. imma go have some fun visiting my cousins (they're both 10) and pretend to be rainbow dash from my little pony and i dont care what you have to say about it :P

might as well cherish the couple months of being a kid I have left.

Ok just gonna put this here because ppl are coming to me off site and asking me to reply to comments, but there are too many to reply to.

IF YOU ARE UNDER 13, GET OFF OF SPACEHEY BRUH!!! This blog is talking GENERALS, not specifically spacehey! This was a response to an blog to an account that has now been banned that was saying that ALL children are stupid and should grow up (and the opposite; that children are becoming *too* grown up… like mf pick a side.)
If u see ppl under 13 commenting on this, please report them. Like not only is this breaking the ToS, but they are putting themselves out to danger voluntarily, knowing very well that they’re not allowed here due to age lol.

Age restrictions exist for a reason, and I am in complete support of them. You as a 10 year old should NOT be on this site!!! It is literally in the rules. Again. I am all for self expression, but U HAVE TO BE SAFE!! And that means practising internet safety yourself and following rules. So if you are reading this blog on here and are under 13, please like. Delete ur account before someone reports it.

And for the record, I don’t believe children should be as prominent on social media as they are now. But this blog isn’t in response to that, it is in response to another blog that again, has been taken down now. I’m just saying that children continue to exist and the stuff that your generation experienced as kids will resurface in other generations except twisted out in different ways. You shouldn’t record a child without their knowledge and post them online just because you think they are cringe. I just thought this was common sense, but apparently not.

ive never felt as happy or carefree again since i was a kid roleplayign beyblade, warriorcats, undertale or ppg etc etc. I did not CAAARE!!! I made youtube videos badly, i would even PRETEND to make videos, id run around and sing in public and dress myself. id go and talk to any other kid i saw and ask them to play. id sing gummybear song and nyan cat on repeat. its so sad kids dont have that aymore because everyones too busy bullying them and theyre all too busy being exposed to just teens or GROWN ADULTS being negative abt them 24/7. i just hope for a happier, carefree childhood for these kids.

I think this also happen with women and fandoms (specially when men are the majority of the fanbase). Many men claim that women are 'uncool' for not liking videogames for example, but when they see a woman who likes videogames she is inmediately a pick-me or a poser.I believe that these types of behaviour just push away women from actually liking some things,in fear of the unfair prejudice she will get from the same men who behave like this. I can compare this with kids calling other kids cringe or older people calling kids cringe because someone is pushing them away from something they like in fear of judgement.

Yeah I think the same. Those children who tell others they are cringe were also told they are cringe and repeat cycle.

Fr tho like they dress them up as if they’re in some run away show and some of them
Are bragging about looking like Adriana Lima I get she looks so gorgeous but that doesn’t mean these kids get to post pictures of her with some wierd of pov thing
Example:”when that one boy reposted a car edit”
And you see a picture of her side eyeing the camera
First of all how does that get popular with in seconds (I didn’t read all of it bc I’m sleepy and half asleep while typing this XP)

I might make my own blog inspired by this because I have a LOT to say on this topic, but one thing that really ticks me off is how normalised it is for adults to take over children's online spaces and then get mad that kids are there.

I spend a good chunk of time on both TikTok and Fortnite (cringe, I know) and the amount of people who do sexual stuff on both and get mad at kids for being grossed out is crazy. Mind you both are for kids, especially Fortnite which iirc doesn't even have a minimum age...

Hell, you could even say this about the Pokemon community with the scalpers and the idiots who give scalpers money.

So real tbh :( I've seen kids on their phones all the time, and the parents don't care twice to entertain them. I have that issue with my brother and he became addicted to the screens because adults kept calling him annoying and doing everything to get rid of him instead of actually raising him. Children can be anything they want to be, unless it's harmful for them or their environment. Idk why people call it "cringe", there's no such definition as "cringe"; it's a concept made up by people to shame others. Tysm for speaking up for this!

exactly, this has been bothering me for so long.

especially because (on spacehey specifically) they say "oh hahaha bACK IN MY DAY we were RREal emos who IDDJDT PUT RAINBOWS On OUR latyaoustsusss!!!!" dude. seriously, no one is claiming to be "REAL emo" on here (at least not anyone that I'm aware of) OTHER THAN YOU. wait until I tell you that, one day, back in your so-called "good times", mypsace was a NEW website. NEW. meaning THERE WAS NO " RIGHT" OR "WRONG" WAY TO USE MYSPACE. now, about 20 years later, spachey is a NEW WEBSITE that is meant to closely resemble myspace. also, I can't make many comments on it because I didn't even exist yet, but from what I've heard, people were RUTHLESS back then, and based off the way these people act, they would've gotten shunned into the deepest pits of hell if they acted like that in, say 2005-ish. AND ANOTHER THING! NOT EEVRYONE on here is trying to be someone from 2005! SOME PEOPLE want to just be able to customize their profile!! :00 SHOCKING I KNOW! and some of those people HAPPEN TO BE BELOW THE AGE OF 35!

okay that was way more rambling that necessary, but anyways my point is if you get so bothered by some kids on the internet acting like kids on the internet then you should permanently unplug your computer and go buy a coloring book

I was actually on myspace back in the day and people's profiles looked way worse then they do now lol. there was no standard or "omg so cringe" i vividly remember seeing someone's who's ENTIRE PROFILE was flashing rainbow and it used to be the coolest thing ever. the internet has lost it's spark sadly

Agreed! I used to be a really young kid who was chronically online and people would just hate on me for nooo reason? I'm not saying we should allow kids on 13+ sites but there's literally no reason you should be sending d#ath threats to a CHILD. (I'm not saying this to you guys.. just generally.)

And social media should start being strict with the age restrictions because you can js lie ab it and then be on it

Age restrictions on social media sites should be a thing to keep kids away from them and should be the strandard in this point in time including going into the future.

this sums it all up perfectly. i feel like the latter half of gen z and gen alpha are so digitally connected from such a young age. while i am near the end of gen z, i was not as screen addicted as a majority of other people around my age when we were younger. i was not personally given social media access till middle school. (only cause i kept begging) which i still think is a little early for it. i was easily averaging 3+ hours each day on social media alone. and while watching videos on social media, i started to gain unhealthy expectations for myself. seeing all the picture-perfect people every scroll was not good for my self-image. it's not good for anybody's self-image. i remember seeing videos with captions that read "imagine being born in 20xx! people who were born that late are so annoying!" and that hurt my feelings back then. and i hate for that to keep happening. people are also less likely to take risks while being young for fear of being recorded and posted on social media. and i think that puts a damper on the childhood (mostly teenage) experience. people don't feel as open to try new things and be young and dumb. we all try to live to a standard created by people who are seemingly perfect. even though everybody knows that those people have probably spent 2+ hours in hair and makeup before "waking up" in their "get ready with me" videos. over time, i've been able to accept my "weirdness" more and more. i have realized that i dont want to fit it. i would rather be myself, and challenge the "norm". it is for sure a tough journey. but to anyone reading this comment, please be yourself! you are the way you are for a reason! <3
