i think prank calling should go back in style. this time, why not do it to spam risk numbers that call you about home equity loans and car insurance you never bought? think about it like this: swift, completely unserious justice.
i haven't done a whole lot, but i like to lean into the mic and go "i like the feeling of rusty spoons on my salad fingers." they always just hang up (lol), but it's fun to get to practice my Salad Fingers impression. actually, maybe i should explore other impressions too.. i've never thought of doing specific voices, just cartoon tropes really. i can pull off quite a few vague personalities if i try hard enough :P.
but i wonder how long i can keep one entertained? how long can i talk in circles to this poor sod in a call center before they realize i'm just fuckin with em?? now THAT, my friend, would be both fun AND good improv practice. to me. of course, i wouldn't give them any real information, no siree, i'd just make up a name and start droning on.
one of my favorite things to watch on YouTube would be pranking scam call centers, or customer support scammers. this inspired me to do the same, and so one night, me and my cousins had actually prank called some random locations (stores, hotels) one summer—we had a lot of fun, at least up until they heard us laughing!
i have yet to get any apps that are meant to block scammers or put you on a do not call list for them, but in the meantime, i think this would be a fun way to kill some time. of course, people still prank call, but i think more people should anyways.
EDIT: i do wanna say. be safe if doing this, because there are some that try to prompt you to say certain things ("yes", or your legal name) that could be used for identity theft
