Choir Event Experiance

So being the absolute theatre kid that I am I go to Stagecoach, which is an organization where they give out theatre lessons to children, teens, young adults etc. Idk what it's like outside of my country? I know they're also in the uk and in America. Anyways I've been going to these lessons for as long as I remember, so like 13ish years? (that's wild to think about).

A general for how it works: basically every week they get permission from schools around the country so that they can host the theatre practice. So for example, there's a group of children that go to the stagecoach in that area, and another group that go to a different area. The country I live in is pretty small so you can easily choose which area is best for your kid. Most people choose by efficiency to get there or maybe even the place where you know the most people. Then again all areas are getting the same education and similar events.

Anyways, apart from this every 2 years we have this huge event called Vocal Aid. Where basically they host a huge ass event where they get all the groups from across the country together so that they can all take part in one big ass choir. And then most of the money goes to charity. This is lowkey super funn!! Cuz not only do you get to see your friends more often due to extra rehearsals after normal practice time, but you literally get to meet a bunch of theatre kids from the entire island. We just had this year's vocal aid and the day before yesterday and I wanted to talk abt it.

This year they had an ok selection of songs. They usually do musical songs and 1980s songs. I don't know why this year they had a bunch of disney/pixar songs. Like they had "into the unknown" from frozen2, "How far I'll go" from Moana, "We don't talk about Bruno" from encanto (wtf), and "one more song" from vivo. They made a Lin Manuel Miranda medley which was creative. At first I was confused why they added moana and encanto in the medley cuz he doesn't sing in them, turns out he wrote "how far I'll go" from moana and "we don't talk about bruno" from encanto... you learn something new everyday I guess. apart from those there was also "in the heights" theme, "one more song" from vivo and "my shot" from Hamilton (ofc). They also added some 80s songs like "It must have been love" my roxette, "Living on a prayer" by bon jovi.

Well long story short it was actually so much fun. In the beginning when they announced the extra rehearsal dates I was low-key scared I wouldn't be able to make it. This year I had my finals and the rehearsals would be exactly after I finished my exam. meaning if my exam ended at 6pm, rehearsal time was 6pm. Buuttt I actually made it somehow. I had called one of the organizers that I would have to be late by around 15-30 mins if I try to attend and they were completely understanding. I would miss around a third of the rehearsal time but I'd say it was worth it cuz I still managed to catch up without really needing to practice outside of rehearsal time, so I managed to juggle both the extra rehearsal time and my finals exam. (I'm still waiting on my results on those T-T)

There r also soloist roles you could audition for. I imagine it being super overwhelming having hundreds of kids behind you singing the harmonies of the song you got picked to solo in, but it was a dream a lot of ppl there had. I wasn't going to audition for a solo cuz of finals but I tried anyways :P. I tried going for "It must have been love". I didn't get it sadly buut my close friend got to do "my shot" :D. There were almost 200 students that tried for a solo so it was pretty though competition. Everyone was amazing tho.

I got to meet a bunch of old friends too! like last vocal aid 2 years ago I made friends with this trans man, supper chill guy. We used to bond over helluvaboss and hazbin. There were also some ppl that I met thru drama camp last February, including Sam. Sam is this super zesty and well-known guy. He keeps saying he's not gay but he's the only guy I know that can say "I just got my period" without it sounding weird or wrong. There was also some drama going on behind the scenes with the straights but idk what was happening :P.

Ok now i don't mean to hate on anyone but tell me why the hell there are girls that hate men just as badly as men hate on women. I'm convinced they think men are there to laugh their asses at. Like, ur laughing at bro just because he's drinking water from his own bottle?? What did bro do to you? And THEN they say they're feminists? No tf ur not, you're actually a physical example of a sexist woman. I know most of us would rather choose the bear over the man, but this guy is minding his business and you find it entertaining to make fun of him every time he breathes a particle of oxygen. At this point you're the reason why men hate women. You're not a diva, ur an ass. Maybe try dating women and mind ur goddam business.

Anyways, at one point me and a friend decided to try handing out booklets that had like the production team's names, all the people in the choirs, directors, conductors, organizers and some adverts. Bro those were the most awkward moments of my life. Almost no one bought a booklet from me. Idk wtf I did wrongg. It might have been cuz we were kind of late tho, cuz some kids were already handing out the booklets before us. But yeah it was awkward and I stayed with my friend most of the time. I got to meet some of my friend's parents tho. But yeah, that was terrible, will not be doing again.

There was also a rumor going around. A parent stuck backstage during the performance. They were about to go on stage and people stopped him. He then turned around to the presenter and went "where tf is my kid I've been here for 14 years" He then left?? Idk exactly. Supper creepy tho. Idk it might be something someone made up. Or maybe someone's Schizophrenic u never know.

BTW OML so after the final performance, I had went out with some ppl. I ended up meeting a girl who was almost in every class we with me during finals. And if u didn't know, in one of the exams a plant fucking fell on my paper mid exam. I thought I would never meet the people in that class ever again but haha I guess not!! I was gonna kms. Anyways we still trauma bonded during exams.

My mum also found the vocal t-shirts they gave us years ago. I now have a total of 5 t-shirts >:). 2014, 2016,2018, 2023 and now 2025!! (they had to skip the 2020 vocal aid for obvious reasons) If I had to wear the 2014 top I would rip it cuz it's so small! Crazy

Anyways this was just one big ass rant. It was great and I'd say everyone had fun. I'm gonna go make plans with my friends. Summer time babyyy >:D.
