i don't think people realize how brilliant her rebrand is and that's why they hate, because i am actually obsessed with it. it's such an incredible thing when you can walk away from an image that doesn't serve you, create a new one that resonates with you, and also monetize it at that!
the main counter argument that i see online is that it "doesn't feel authentic". first of all, yall don't know her (just like i don't) lol, so it's not our place to say if it's authentic to her or not. from the interview bits i've seen with her, she seems really passionate about this music project, and that is not something you can fake. second of all, she has to appeal to the mainstream to be successful in this climate. if she started doing obscure and niche stuff out of the blue, it would only turn people away. she's a pop culture girl anyway, so what better way to set the stage for her future career than to take the best from her predecessors and create this ultimate "america's sweetheart" persona - a concept that the culture has already been familiar with for decades and has been proved to be working in terms of capitalizing on it?
also, i think general people (not involved with any creative processes) don't realize how difficult it is to create something of your own, something that hasn't been seen or done before, even if you have a whole crew of people doing that with you. it's a lot of pressure, because you need to do something that will perform well, because you have certain obligations to certain people, like her label, but still, you want something that will feel like YOU. it's really a double-edged sword.
i don't really want to take too long with this discussion, so i think i'll end it on that. of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion at the end of the day, but i think people should be more open-minded. if you take concepts you don't really like or agree with, you can study them and i promise you, more often than not you will find something useful, something to understand this world better.

it just took her a sec to figure out where she was going after her being a tik tok girlie, but i think people saw that and got ready to call *whatever* she did inauthentic. the new persona, in my opinion, feels very her. the early 2000's pop aesthetic fits her so well. the only thing is that if you dont immerse yourself in her too much, it seems like its been done. im confident there will come a time where everyone hating on her will eat their wordss

I’ll admit I was skeptical about the rebrand at first, but then I heard Fame is a Gun and Times Like These and they honestly caught me off guard. I've had them on repeat ever since.
At this point, I’m not too concerned with image or branding discourse: the music speaks for itself! It's beautifully crafted, and the team behind it clearly poured a lot of care into it. That’s what really matters to me

OH MY GOD DONT EVEN LET ME GET STARTEDDDD. i see ppl whining all the time about how boring the music industry is nowadays (rightfully so), yet when someone actually brings something new & unique to the table they still find reasons to complain. like yall can NEVER be satisfied smh. and they LOVE to drag her for her past... as if people cant grow and change?? "she was a tiktoker in the hype house now all of a sudden she wants to be esoteric and mysterious" GOD FORBID a girl experiments & tries to discover herself. like was she supposed to stay a tiktoker for the rest of her life?? "shes a trumpie!! she said blm is a cult!!" again that was YEARSS and years ago, she grew up in the DEEP south and didnt know any better. and im not saying thats an excuse but atleast she escaped that mindset and grew for the better, we gotta give her credit for that. and name ONE celebrity who hasnt done shady things in their past.... right.
and it's actually admirable how she pulled a complete 180 in those couple of years, because MAJORITY of people just stay the same and defend their mistakes for the rest of their lives. and she's so young too, OF COURSE she's gonna try different things and use the money and connections she has. yall better learn from her example and make something out of your damn lives instead of scrolling and spitting hate before it's too late
