** herbs are life ♡

hey, you guys!
I wanted to share some information about different herbs that can be consumed.
Whether that be rolled and smoked, or steeped and drank as a tea;
You will receive their benefits regardless ♡

Why do people smoke?
For many different reasons, but the ritual of going outside and breathing can feel
sacred for regular smokers. Smokers probably take more breaks than anyone else, and it's this exact habit that is often missed when people decide to quit smoking.
Smoking can also be a social experience, and has been throughout history. Not only a form of social interaction but also as a form of healing, smoking/ingesting herbs is known to have been used in sacred rituals.

I think it's important to be aware that a lot of what we were taught is not as true as we were led to believe. We've always been told that smoking is harmful, it's bad for our lungs, can cause different ailments or even lead to cancer. This is true for the products that are made with harsh toxic chemicals like cigarettes, or different tobacco products like cigarillos or blunts.
Those products without a doubt are harmful to our bodies.
However, contrary to what I believed for a long time, it's not the actual smoke or act of smoking that is harmful. Again, it's the toxic chemicals.

Nature, as we are all aware, is perfect
It provides us with everything we could need.
Which leads me to our first herb, one of my personal favorites:

Mullein: a well known plant that has been smoked for centuries and is known to treat lung issues due to its expectorant nature. What does this mean? In a nutshell, it will break up congestion and make coughing more productive. Smoking this herb can help with influenza, asthma attacks, bronchitis, and pneumonia. Mullein contains chemicals called saponins that help break down the mucus in the lungs and make it easier for you to cough it up and get it out. This, in turn, reduced the chances of you getting an infection from the gunk in your lungs. A second bonus benefit of smoking this herb comes from its antibacterial properties.

Mugwort: actually, maybe this one is my favorite. The first people to use Mugwort (that we know of) were the Chumash people. They used Mugwort for its psychoactive properties but kept it on hand for other uses. The plant name Artemisia comes from the Greek Goddess of the moon, Artemis. This heavenly Greek mother watches over women and their cycles. The Romans used it for sore muscles, the Chinese used it in moxibustion sticks. It's most known for its aid in psychoactive dreaming but is also used for its power in treating unusual menstrual cycles, insomnia, kidney problems, blood sugar levels, improves digestive health, aids with depression, just to name a few. I love to drink it all the time. It was also used as a natural birth control and abortifacient before Rockafeller and Big Pharma took over in the early 1900's **

Blue Lotus: This plant originates from North and Central Africa. Shamans would use these sacred blue flowers to reach higher levels of consciousness. Also known for its psychoactive effects, this herb leaves you will a gentle euphoric feeling similar to feeling high after consuming cannabis. It promotes vivid dreaming and improves sleep, reduces anxiety, and acts as a natural aphrodisiac to improve sexual arousal. It can be smoked recreationally or used in a tea blend. Is an excellent addition to herbal mixtures because it increases the potency of other herbs without overwhelming them.

Skullcap: North American indigenous tribes used skullcap in ceremonies to mark the transition of girls to womanhood. It was also the Indigenous people who first indulged in skullcap's psychoactive properties. As a ceremonial plant, it was used to induce hallucinogenic visions. Today, it continues to be used as a relaxant and sleeping aid, often in combination with other sedative herbs such as valerian.  It acts as a trophorestorative  on the central nervous system, allowing respite from nervous tension. Skullcap helps to enhance mood and reduce anxiety and may help relieve insomnia.

Lemon Balm: This herb is a refreshing one, as you can probably guess from the name. Lemon balm is known to relieve blood circulation issues and headaches. When smoked it causes relaxation, lightheadedness, and sleepiness. Since it contains trace amounts of harmine, it is also known to have short-lived psychoactive effects. It can be paired with a wide range of herbs or cannabis to generate a mood-boosting smoking blend.

Angelica Root: This is one that's included in my full mood sacred tea blend. Angelica is a perennial herb that has a mildly floral, earthy flavor. It is known to have widespread  physiological effects and the ability to sooth digestive issues. It is used in traditional Chinese medicine, primarily for women's health purposes. It may promote wound healing by encouraging angiogenesis, which is the creation of new blood cells and can induce your period by causing ovarian contractions *** not recommended for pregnant or breast feeding women.

I've been typing for what seems like forever ;_;

I could keep going- if this in interesting to one or any of you I love to talk about these things!
I'll stop here for now and maybe will make another post in the future ♡

**** sending out infinite love ****

As I read your list of herbs, a strange herb came to mind that certain shamans use in the Amazon. There are certain tribes that hunt electric eels for food. The electricity given out by these eels is so potent that it will kill you.

Prior to going out on the hunt for this eel the shaman of the tribe gives the hunters certain herbs that causes them to be immune to the electricity of the eel. So the hunters can grab the eel with no side affects
