I graduated high school almost 2 weeks ago and I start college in August. I'm obviously very nervous and what not but can ya'll help me in giving me actual helpful advice so I don't embarrass myself or so I can know what I'm doing. Please don't say things like, "Don't raise your hand to go to the bathroom" because most people know that. All advice is greatly appreciated.
Note: I'm going to a college with NO DORMS so please no advice on that since it's useless on my part. I'm specifically going to a college in Puerto Rico so if anyone who goes to college there sees this post, please share your wisdom with me. Anyone who has gone to college can comment on this post.

1. ) Ratemyprofessor.com will be your best friend when choosing classes.
2.) Don't be afraid to drop out of a class. These are your grades and your gpa. If you don't understand what the teacher is saying due strong accents, drop it. If you don't like the teaching style, drop it. If you notice a teachers attitude is whack, drop it. Don't ever worry about the teacher's feelings. They got their degrees already. Worry about yourself. Of course try to figure that out within the first two weeks so you're able to get your money back from that class.
3.) Don't be hard on yourself if you do end up failing a class. You dust your shoulders off and you try again. It is not the end of the world. I have failed classes and now I work in the medical field because I tried even harder the second time.
4.) That syllabus they give you the first day is your holy grail. Keep it with you at all times. Most likely it'll have the lesson plan and even homework, exam, and quiz dates for the semester in there, plan accordingly! I like to write due dates on a calendar.
5.) Don't forget to take care of yourself. Eat, sleep, hydrate, stretch, and socialize. Don't lose yourself in your work. Doing that will only burn you out.
6.) 6am-7am classes seem nice cause you can get them out of the way early and have the rest of the day yourself. Tempting right? Wrong. Don't do it. Just trust me on that one. 8am-9am the earliest.
7.) It's okay to have a mental health day to yourself. It's is a nicer term for skipping a class for the day. One day you're going to wake up and think, "I can't do it," and that's okay. You're in college, you're a young adult, you know yourself, you have that freedom now. Just don't over use it! Duh.
I hope this was helpful?? I'm sorry I typed a lot! These are things I wish I knew when I was a freshmen.
THANK YOU!! Don't worry about typing "too much", I need all the advice I can get from other people who have already experienced this. Sadly Ratemyprofessors.com doesn't have the college I'm going to, it has other Puerto Rican colleges but not mine for some reason.

Well, I'm actually still a freshman but I recommend to arrive earlier so you can look for the classrooms and be in time if it takes you long, and Google maps would be your friend until you learn the way.
I've been to my college a few times now and I know where my department is but idk where my other classes are so i'll definitely be taking this into consideration. My college is quite small compared to the average American college so I feel like I'll know where I'm going after a few days.
