So, i realised i have a lot to say but no one to say it to, so then i came to the conclusion that id waffle on a blog post. But like, what the hell is even booktok? Please, js one book without porn (idk if i can get banned for saying words like that but pretty please don't I'm a gnarly guy.) I think people on booktok need to realise that if a book contains smut, it literally can not be a YA!! YA means young adults, as in teens! And they're the same women who will come for guys with a porn addiction (as they should- that is wrong too) but you're doing the same thing but its not acknowledged because its in writing!! It actually annoys me sm. Like obviously people are going to read that stuff, that's fine, but WAYYY too much of it normalises harmful behaviours, and has cartoon covers that look like a book for children, and they shouldn't be read as often as most do. Anyways that's my rant over, its js rlly been annoying me recently because ive seen way too many people reading books recently and when i ask what its abt they all say smut and it was a rec off of booktok. But yeah have a lovely day, you probably need it if youve read all of this word vomit <3

I will say some of the smut books i read from book tok were very graphic and i dont even mean very sexual or taboo sexual. A lot of the graphic nature was surrounded by rape tbh. We have problems with men for doing these things but its okay for us to read about it instead of watching it? i never really thought about this until reading this post. i think its good to bring awareness to that. and yes young adults should not be reading books like that.

I read dark romance not for the emotionless porn shit but because itโs fast paced, full of tension, and actually has a story. Itโs not about the intimacy for me, itโs the sexual tension and rivalry you donโt get in other books. But itโs fucking annoying how popular itโs gotten now cause every author just copies whatever blew up and focuses on the nasty shit instead of the emotion and story behind it. Lemme jst rant rq (sry
) Booktok girls eat that shit up and itโs all over now, just mass produced crap. And it pushes real, raw stories out. Like no hate I respect authors I know itโs hard writing a book but still. Most of their writing styles is trash now and my theory is that women reading it accept that as normal, get bored of the writing, skip straight to the porn, and eventually just start consuming for the porn. (And yes it's like p*rn addiction) Now itโs all abuse and weird shit instead of actual passion. Thereโs some insanely good dark romance authors but they donโt get seen cause all the emotionless crap gets hyped. Respect the grind bc it makes money but still...
