Poem #1 🫶🏻

I did this poem a while back when I was in school, but now I’m in summer break and thought should share it! It’s about ADD. Hope you like it!

”A Child of ADD“

I swear I’m trying.

Like, really trying.

But my brain is a browser with 87 tabs open, and I don’t know where the music is coming from.

They say, ”just focus.“

Bro, I am focusing-

On everything except what I’m supposed to.

The fly on the window,

the way my shoelaces are kinda uneven,

The weird noise the ceiling fan makes.

”Did you even hear me?“

Uh…yeah, totally…wait, what?

School is a battlefield,

And my attention span is a paper shield.

Math class? A blur.

History? Might as well be ancient.

Homework? Oh, I did it…in my head…I think.

They call it a “disorder“

Like my brain is a broken puzzle.

But what if it’s just a different kind of picture?

What if I don’t need to color inside the lines?

Yeah, I forget things.

Yeah I talk too much.

Yeah, I start a million things and finish, like, three.

But my mind is loud, and bright, and fast, and full of so much.

I am not lazy.

I am not broken.

I am not ”too much.“

I am a storm,

A wildfire,

A shooting star with places to be.
