Goro Majima/Hannya Mask Tapestry Progress

Oh brother where do I begin? It's been a total ride since I updated on my Goro Majima/Hannya Mask tapestry. So, I had crocheted up to about row 80 and ran out of my cake of grey yarn. No worries, I have another cake I wound up, right? Well, this cake was significantly darker than the previous yarn, and a cooler undertone. I crochet with it anyway and realize what I had left of that yarn was not enough by a long shot. I go to the store to get more. Well, after some comparison, turns out that dark grey I just crocheted 12 or so rows with is actually a different yarn color all together. So I stock up on this new yarn that better matches of the original grey. And this lot is LIGHTER than my original grey and the undertone is again, different. Now I'm forced to make a tough decision: which color do I go with? I decided to go with my 2nd color because when worked up with the original grey, it's less jarring.

Remember how I said I worked up 12-ish rows with the dark grey? I ended up frogging all of that and RE-CROCHETED IT. That was 3 days worth of work I just totally undid and re-did...guess who's also now low on black and doesn't have a matching dye lot to continue with? I'll cross that bridge when I get there. And this is why we don't do impromptu large projects. Anyway, here's what it's looking like right now. This thing is MASSIVE! This is 94/253 rows. The picture doesn't really show it but it is 2 different dye lots.Hannya Mask tapestry wip
