Social Media is Such a Drag

Does anyone else feel like social media is getting so annoying these days? Like, I'm so annoyed after like an hour and I keep on falling into bad habits. Doomscrolling is genuinely such a drag.

So much of TikTok is meaningless discourse, bigotry/ ragebait (aka bigotry in disguise), or depressing news about how we are all going to have our lives ruined by a man with a bad spray tan. I never wanted to move out of Texas. But I probably will when I graduate. And the depressing news about the world becomes your entire page after you like 3 videos. I feel like it's designed to keep you as depressed as possible so you continue to interact. It creates obsessive doomscrolling. I'm not advocating for ignoring what is happening in the world (never do that; you can try but eventually the world will happen to you). I think the best method I've learned is to be online but offline. Be a part of spaces on the internet that don't have short-form content that makes it easy to doomscroll (like now). Block apps on your phone and even delete them if necessary. Spend hours reading, not watching. Spend time learning a skill. Be employed. Don't be like me (one time I spent 18 hours on TikTok; I knew I had to make a change). Watch a movie/ TV show instead. Anything but that damn phone.

Im half a year clean from tiktok and IG reels. Idk if this helps, js wanna imply that u can stop the addiction too :3

Yeah I'm working on it. I'm doing stuff to change my habits. Trust imma be like you and stop relapsing the minute I get bored.
