Three Radikal Rekerds #27: Skipping Sardonically through a Scéance

Piotr Kurek, A Sacrifice Shall Be Made / All The Wicked Scenes
Genre: Experimental/Classical/Multimedia
Standout track: Ta Sha Si Le Ta
Whilst the genesis and context of this record is rather complicated (they are pieces originally composed for theatre shows in Beijing, Shanghai ad Warsaw, and starring actors from those various regions in vocal roles) all you really need to know is that this exactly the kind of electronic/organic conflating angst-ridden melodic music that our age of material nihilism and smouldering fear warrants. Really rather good!

Live For You, Sometimes It Feels Like Chains
Genre: Darkwave
Standout track: Gem1n1 Sun//Gem1n1 Moon
Sexy and sinister four track tape with a genuinely sad yet inspirational backstory. Being the EP of newlyweds Caitlin Rae and Eddie Wuebben, the latter of which sadly passed away in 2019. After seeking therapy to cope with her loss and grief, Caitlin eventually went on to release these DIY gothic anthems last year. I'm certainly glad she did! And I sincerely hope she's staying safe and sane.

Drinking Boys And Girls Choir, BIG NINE, Let's Go
Genre: Pop Punk
Normally not the sort of punk I listen to to be honest, however this South Korean trio have wormed their way into my cynicism crusted heart. I can't NOT feature a single on my blog that features the lyric "Shall we go to *Daegu and go to some tasty restaurants?"
(*At least I think that's what was being said, forgive me Korean speakers out there!)
