和歌山のたま電車 | Wakayama's Tama Train + pictures

Some photos I took of the Tama Densha located in Wakayama c: I took most of this from my old substack post ><"

How to ride: From Osaka, take the JR line towards Wakayama. !!!BE CAREFUL!!! Half of the train will go to the Kansai airport and the other cars will go to Wakayama. They detach at Hineno Station. Check the destination on the outside of each train car before jumping on!!

From Wakayama Station, you can transfer to the Wakayama Electric Railway Company's train lines. From the JR station, walk into the gates without using your IC card (Station staff are understanding and accommodating of this). Walk to track 9, where you'll find a window where you may purchase an all-day pass for 800 yen. This allows you to ride all of the specialty trains that run on this track (Tama, Tama museum, Ichigo densha, Ume densha, etc.). The attendant should also give you a post card that can be stamped on each train to complete a picture.

Important note: The trains run from Wakayama station to Kishi station, where a Tama gift shop and cafe can be found, as well as one of the cat station masters. If you would like to stop in Idakiso, another feline stationmaster might be waiting for you too. If you are pressed for time or tired, please note there is really nothing at this station - it's small and rural - good if you love scenery though. Be sure to check their work schedule - They might have the day off or important PR events to attend!  I also recommend looking at the timetables on their website. They are updated frequently and you can plan in advance to see specific trains.
