🎮 Back on PlayStation Home!!

I couldn't stop smiling when I was able to log back into PlayStation Home after its official shut down in 2015.

I had so many costumes, and the majority of friends I've made on my PlayStation Network list were FROM PlayStation Home.

I tried the "successors" to PlayStation Home, such as Atom Universe and Four Kings Casino & Slots, but none of them were as great. Eventually I moved onto the closest thing I could find called Tower Unite (which is a FANTASTIC game that I'll blog about for next time!).

Thanks to the dedicated fans and incredible community to make this all possible, PlayStation Home is back online!

The first thing I did was go to the Bomber Dome! This brought back memories, as I was a huge Bomberman fan as a kid.

This was a space that lets you and others play a special mini-game of Bomberman, where you collect keys and avoid the explosions of the bombs.

If you don't collect all the keys in time, or if the explosions get you, your life deducts by one. It makes it easier with more players as this is a teamwork game!

The next space I hopped into was The Ward of Despair!

This space lets you play a mini-game of Siren, where you have to escape the ward and avoid getting killed by the Shibito.

This game was very creepy, but I'm very impressed how well it worked on PlayStation Home, with the different camera angles and the objectives you need to do in it. It's like a haunted house in a way. :3

As a big Spelunker fan (not to be confused with Spelunky), I went to the Gathering Place for Spelunkers.

This had a mini-game where you have to avoid the bats and ghosts, collect items, and dodge obstacles like boulders. I like this game a lot.

As you play through Spelunker HD on PSN, you earn PlayStation Home-specific items such as a Spelunker Outfit.

The next space to visit was Uncharted: Fortune Hunter!

Truthfully, I've never really got too into the Uncharted series. This space though allowed you to play a third-person shooter mini-game where you complete challenges and collect rewards.

I'm not that great at it, but I personally thought this was pretty cool to include a shooter game on here!

As someone who's been on PlayStation Home back in the day, I just HAD to revisit the Red Bull Air Race.

It was interesting to me to see this kind of product placement on here, but the mini-game itself was pretty cool. You just fly through the rings, and sometimes you have to fly through them a specific way by turning the plane sideways.

Speaking of product placement, the most bizarre one I've seen on here was the Clearasil Kart Racing, and I remember when this space was first a thing! (Seriously, I couldn't make this up if I tried. xD)

The objective is to drive your kart and collect the Clearasil skincare products and finish the race.

Moving onto the Konami Penthouse!

This had an actual Dance Dance Revolution mini-game on here where you press the directional buttons to the arrows, but I couldn't launch it. I wonder if it needed more people on the dance floor. Oh well, I still danced on the dance floor though by myself.

I did eventually happen to run into other players later for the first time since the shutdown in 2015, so I was surprised and pleased!

I took a small break and went to the default personal space, the Harbour Studio.

This space took me right back to when I first started playing on PlayStation Home. The space itself, the ability to place items down from the rewards you've collected... re-living the experience was just a breath of fresh air.

A space in particular that I really enjoyed in its original run was the PlayStation E3 Booth.

You could walk around and watch previews for games and collect rewards, such as redemption codes for actual games you could download and play. This was a very memorable space for me.

They advertised for PlayStation Move which was supposed to compete with the Nintendo Wii. I remember buying one, it didn't live up to expectations, and there weren't that many games that supported it.

I then went to the Southern Island Hideaway space by Granzella.

This one had a jet ski racing mini-game which was pretty neat!

The island itself was pretty cozy.

Of course, I had to go to visit the Bowling Alley!

I've played all sorts of different bowling games, but this one was pretty fun! If you're the only one bowling, it's basically practice, and it won't keep score. Bowling's always fun with more people!

The bowling alley had arcade games and pool tables as well!

And finally, I went to The Playground to shoot some hoops.

Yeah, you can play H-O-R-S-E on here!

PlayStation Home was fantastic during its initial run. I'm just really happy that I get to play it again after all these years. Lots of fun memories have returned, and it's a wonderful feeling to re-live these experiences.

Have you ever played on PlayStation Home? Are you playing it again? Let me know! Maybe we can play together some time!

Also, please feel free to check me out on Twitch some time!

I remember PS Home! Used to play it a lot back in the day, on my dad's PS3. I remember playing the Clearasil skateboarding game a lot, as well as that one that let you build your own city. The Sodium hub was pretty cool, and I also remember the Japanese parade one had a nice atmosphere, and some others but my memory is fairly faint there..

I knew there was a team of folks bringing it back but I didn't know it was playable like this, or in this good of a state rather. I tried running an old build on my PC on a PS3 emulator but it did NOT like that lol, I have a better rig now but still not state of the art. I ended up jailbreaking the PS3 I have (HFW), and running it on that instead, but that build wasn't an online one. Got to relive some memories at least!

Haha that's awesome! Yeah I only tried running it on my Steam Deck on a PS3 emulator, and it works pretty well. I did run into a few people online on there, and I was surprised! A lot of fun memories started flowing back!

That's pretty sick! Is the project finally open to the public? I wouldn't mind playing it regularly again like I used to!

Well I mean, anyone can download it, set it up, and play it if they wanted to.

Nice, I'll have to go find it and give it a try. Thanks! Maybe I'll run into you on there lol.
