One's own book of shadows is an extremely personal thing. However as tips go, sharing inspirations from new perspectives might suffice? After all, feeling the nuanced energies plays an important role in tracing the lines and manifesting intent.
There is no thought-form more stifling than the traps of organised religion. Much esoteric study has been influenced by such strictly controlled paradigms. But there are still many valuable concepts and symbology. For example, although the Kabbalah is a homage to a traditional sacred text of Jewish people; a gentile may find value in researching and postulating about why it is from an anthropological view. In this, I've identified just how persistent humans are when it comes to describing things with a rigid hierarchical structure.
At the end of the day, the power resides within one's self and connection to both cosmos and the mundane. There are patterns of self-similarity and patterns of mindfully borrowing from what has come before and making something new.
