at long last, i finished season one of the 2003 teenage mutant ninja turtles series. i'm not sure why it took me THIS damn long to get around to it, but it honestly is one of the best versions of the turtles i have ever seen. it is simultaneously edgy AND pretty funny, unlike more modern versions that rely a bit too heavily on the comedy for my tastes. rise of the teenage mutant turtles (rottmnt) is probably still beating out 2003 by a bit, ironically being the most comedy-first series in the entire franchise (it just so happens to also be peak fiction when it needs to be). i look forward to season 2 of 2003 and very much hope it keeps up the above average storytelling and action that season 1 established.
