HAPPY PRIDE! ( info on identities + any Q&A’s)

Welcome friends and fellow lgbt peoples!

It is JUNE! PRIDE MONTH! Yay!! I personally love that we get a month to express ourselves and celebrate after years of oppression and hiding. Some say we no longer need pride but there are still many places people are punished for being lgbt. There are still people who hate for no reason. There are also still people uneducated who want to learn and ask things but dont know how!!

So this post is a big MASTERPOST about Identities and what they mean. Both Sexuality and Gender will be discussed. I will try to go over every identity I have ever really heard and some that were submitted in. If you dont see yours go ahead and comment and I will add it! On top of that I will have a Q&A spot at the bottom where I will put questions!! You can comment some or pm me if you want to be anonymous! (Or even send them into my share box I can link it if people want but it is on my page for now!)

First we will go over many gender identities below!

Transgender - Trans is the umbrella term for anyone whos identity does not line up with their sex or agab (Assigned Gender At Birth). Most commonly people know it as things such as FtM and MtF when a male is born and assigned male but transition into female and vice versa. However nonbinary still falls under the umbrella since the person doesnt identify with their sex still, though in rare cases someone can be born intersex and raised ambiguously and be nonbinary and not want to identify as trans too). Some binary trans people still like the term transexual but it is outdated same with transvestite but there will still be older people who relate to those terms.

Nonbinary - Nonbinary is also an umbrella term for anyone who identifies out side the binary. Some people identify with just Nonbinary others use microlabels or multiple labels such as a nonbinary demigirl, or an agender demiboy, or a genderfluid two spirit. Most labels can be used together really, especially microlabels that fall under umbrellas. You can also always use just the umbrella if you want to and be only nonbinary! There are no real rules for how YOU feel about YOUR gender.

Two Spirit - THIS IS THE ONLY IDENTITY WITH RULES (I also am not the most educated on it). Two spirit is an identity for INDIGENOUS PEOPLE ONLY. I do not know the exact origin but i dont know that for most identities i will admit. However this identity is like nonbinary or genderfluid. It is having masculine and feminine feelings and traits and identities while also being indigenous. I find it beautiful to have terms in other cultures that embrace being outside the binary! (IF YOU KNOW MORE COMMENT THEM FOR ME TO LOOK INTO!)

Intersex - Intersex is not an identity that you pick, (NOT THAT ANY ARE PICKED, BUT THIS IS SOMETHING YOU ARE BORN!) this one also has rules because it is being born with both sex traits. Some people are conisdered obvious by having testicles and ovaries or something along those lines, others have chromosomes that dont match but never know because oe being raised one gender or by not having any “signs” so it goes undiagnosed. Some intersex people do not want to be apart of the lgbt however with how our society views things outside of the social construct of what gender needs to be a lot feel they fall in our community and are glad to be accepted.

Agender - Agender is the lack of gender, so to some it can be the opposite of nonbinary or genderfluid which can often feel like many genders. Agender can be paired with others especially if you feel fluid and some days nothing and others everything etc. I personally do have days of feeling a lack of gender myself but not enough to put Agender in my labels, but even if you just feel it once you can identify with it if you want to of course!

Genderfluid - Genderfluid is a common micro label i see often, and it can also be an umbrella term for feeling a fluidity in your gender. You could feel female one day and nonbinary another and agender the next then male! You also can just feel like a demigirl and agender but still be fluid if that is how you want to identify! It is a very versatile identity like nonbinary and you can even be both as well!

Genderqueer - This one is less common but I personally identify with it! It is feeling outside of male and female but often not having a set certainty, or just feeling your gender is “queer” in general. I have used this microlabel since maybe 2015 or so even and I just feel it has always fit me. I also enjoy the flag for some reason. It can be a lot like nonbinary or genderfluid or even agender, most are pretty similar but it comes down to what you feel fits you!

Demigender/Demiboy/Demigirl - So we will see the prefix Demi come up again in sexualities but it means half or partly. You may have heard of Demigods as the main way this prefix is used. But for this identity it fits for feeling partly one gender such as girl or boy. I personally use Demiboy because I feel partly like a guy! It doesnt need to be a set half like demi sounds but really just any partly you feel defines you. If you feel like you are agender but also female enough that demigirl fits then you may be a demigril too! Again a lot of these labels can stack!

Bigender - Bigender is feeling two genders! So you could feel exclusively male and female or demigirl and agender only and not want to identify as fluid! I personally have not looked too deeply into this identity before.

Pangender - This one is feeling all genders, whether that is at once or being fluid in all genders and not wanting to use genderfluid. You could also be a pangedner genderfluid person and use both!!

Cisgender - So this identity is well known but some people still dont know the word or dont know that Cis is not some kind of slur. It is the term for identifying with your birth gender! Nothing is wrong with being cis or being called cis. You can be cis and lgbt still just like you can be straight and lgbt. Lgbt doesnt mean queer gender and sexuality!

Now we will go over many sexual identities (and a few romantic ones however pretty much any sexuality can also be a romantic orientation)  below!

Lesbian / WLW - The L in LGBT is Lesbian therefore I shall start the sexualities with them! I also started my pride month calendar with them! (I will link that pic below if you wanna spread it around for the year!!) So Lesbian is also known as WLW for Women loving women. Some call it non men loving non men since the white in most flags stand for nonbinary people and people out of the binary in general. So yes you can be a trans fem lesbian or an agender demigirl lesbian or a nonbinary lesbian!

Gay Male / MLM - The G is for Gay which originally was a word for gay men, however Gay has become an umbrella term as well for any gender who feels homosexual. Even bi and pan people can call themselves gay if they want because it has become a term just for lgbt really. MLM is for men who love men also a non women loving non women cause again yes you could be a genderfluid demiboy and be gay or be  a trans gay man!

Bisexual - Bi is mostly known as being into two genders, and to some it is only female and male, but that is wrong. Bisexuals can love two OR MORE genders! Bisexual people dont exclude trans people by default (of course there is always transphobic people of alll kinds  which can include bi people but i do not spread biphobia myself! My own bf is bi!)

Pansexual - Pan is being into ALL gender identites which can include nonbinary and cis and trans and any other micro label. Normally pan is more about the person and not caring about gender or lack of or anything. I go by Pan because I dont even ask about gender really, and on top of that I really like the flag. I feel like if you relate to bi and like the flag more go ahead and say bi, same with pan!

Omnisexual - Omnisexual is kind of like pan id say but i believe omni is liking all but having preferences. I will admit I havent looked into it in a few years but that was how my friend explained it when they identified as omni in school. Now if I am wrong please correct me and I will update this!

Polysexual- Polysexual and polyamorous are different, we will go over polysexual now and the other next! Polysexual is liking multiple genders and identities but not all. Most common it is people who like all and everything besides one, like cis men only.

Polyamorous - Now polyamorous is not hard to explain really but also it is not technically a “sexuality” it is more of a way of life and romantic plus sexuality. It is dating multiple people consensually all together. Poly relationships could be a throuple or something called a constellation where a few are dating but not all. Maybe a and b are dating while a dates c and b dates d. It is the opposite of Monogamous which is dating only one person and being loyal.

Asexual - Asexual is also known as Ace and this one is the lack of sexual attraction! Some ace people have no attraction but still will have sex others are repulsed and against it completely which is okay! Everyone is different!

Aromantic - Aro is the lack of romantic attraction, you can still want to have sex but not really have a feeling of romantic love or wanting. Some people get into queer platonic relationships instead.

AroAce - AroAce is specifically feeling both asexual and aromantic. It has its own flag since some people feel both! I had a few friends who identified this way in school too.

Greysexual - Grey is less known but it is like a fluctuating asexuality. Some  feel intense attraction some days and none others and such.

Demisexual - We already spoke of demi meaning partly, but for sexuality it is a little different. It isnt like you feel sexual some times and not others like grey, instead it is about connection. Most demiseuxuals dont have an attraction to anyone until they get close and they start to love or want or feel connected to them. Most demis I have met are pan as well since they dont care what someone has until they connect but of course you could be a demi lesbian or something else!

Demiromantic - Demiromantic is similar by needing a connection and to get to know the person before feeling romance. Some people can be demiromantic and demisexual others can be demiromantic and some other sexuality!

Aroflux - Aroflux is kind of like greysexual for aromantics, your aromanticness is fluid and such and can be intense some days and not others.

Lithosexual - This one i didnt know until i met someone who identified this way. But litho is feeling attraction (can be sexual or romantic but we are talking about sexual) but the feeling fades when it is reciprocated.

Finsexual - There are a few things that can be like this with other words but im going with these two today and Finsexual is about femininity and the attraction to it! Some nonbinary people dont want to go by lesbian and may use this or someone whos gender feels queer but they only like women or feminine people may use this.

Minsexual - This is the same as above but for masculinity and male leaning identities! So again you could be something like a demiboy and agender and only like male leaning but not want to use the mlm so you could be minsexual!

Queer - Queer is an umbrella term for all and for questioning in a way and to most that is just the rainbow flag but Queer itself has a flag that i put here as well! Below is more about rainbow. Queer can be questioning if you like to use it but i also think rainbow is questioning too.

Rainbow/ Homosexual / Questioning -  This one is also an umbrella term and flag for really anything on this list. The rainbow flag is used by all and there is the regular one, the one with brown and black to include poc, the triangle one to include trans and even one with intersex included! I love all these flags since i love rainbows!

Now for the future Q&A section!! I personally have no questions that were asked yet so for now this is empty but if you want to comment go ahead or send anonymous questions to my page! I will try to update when I can and when I see them!! If you also want to suggest identities I didnt cover go ahead!!

Q: How can you be Agender and a demigirl/boy, etc.?

A:  gender is fluid and different per person someone may feel agender half the time and demigirl the other so they use both. It isnt really up to anyone to tell them they cant be that way. I use demiboy but i also feel genderqueer specifically but hell i also feel fluid and some days agender myself i just dont use every single term for myself but some people do and nothing is wrong with that!

Q: What about Neopronouns?

A: Ah Neos!! Yes! These are pronouns outside of the main three we know (He, She, They) Such as IT which I personally use or others use things they relate to that feel gender to them. Blue, ghost, bun, sweet. Those are all neos but so are xe/xir and zey/zem and such like that!! They just feel right when people feel outside of the common things. Some may be agender using it or could be genderfuck using ghostself. Once again to each their own. Also most neo users have "normal" pronouns irl since we know people arent always accepting. Most use them online with clsoe friends who feel the same. Though anyone who uses them all the time is still cool in my book and brave.

Q: If Someone feels fluid or many genders why not just use genderfluid or nonbinary and nothing more?

A: I mean, it is a case by case per person thing really.  They may feel certain microlabels often enough to want to use it, or maybe like me with genderqueer they found it young and just feel it sticks even if their gender presentation has changed. Hell some people feel so many genders under the fluid/nonbinary umbrella they just pick the flags they think look or fit them best.

Q: is being LGBT a mental illness?

A: NO! It is not wrong or an illness to be lgbt. Sure being lgbt and ostracized from our society can cause illness but it isnt from jsut being lgbt. The closest thing is that being trans is legally diagnosed as gender dysphoria, but you know the treatment for that?? HRT, hormone replacment therapy to help transition. The cure is literally to transition not try and force it away. So no it isnt an illness to ever be lgbt but people who are lgbt can be mentally ill still.

Q: What is the best way to show my lgbt info on my page??

A: There are two ways I find easiest, 1. if you have a few labels or only one or two identities then just list or add stamps or blinkies!! A trans flag or something or all your flags in a marquee like i did. Another great way is to use the site en.pronouns.page (my account here) and you can have names, flags, pronouns, adjectives, and more added to it and then link it in your profile or somewhere!!!

(Also forgot the  calendar I made! I have spotted it on tiktok daily!)

This is really helpful! I don’t know much about sexualities and identities but I’m trying to learn some. I recently learned about the ace spectrum since I think I might be ace so having the rest explained is really helpful!

Love this! I'm agender and have never heard of fin- and minsexual tbh. I've always used androphilia to describe how I feel. That word describes sexual and emotional attraction to men. The counter part would be gynephilia describing attraction to women. The neat thing about these words is that everyone already can guess what it means (for example from the words andrologist and gynecologist) and they don't give away the gender or sex of the person who identifies with them at all. So that it can also be used by cisgender and/or straight people :)

i had heard of those but i felt like the past few years they were used less with min and fin being used more. I wanted to include them too though since i wasnt sure!!! Honestly I wish I could include every identity anyone has ever thought up but thatd be hard lol

Inckuding every identity would be very hard xD
Sometimes, I feel like if we could differentiate between every person's identity the outcome would be that there are just as many gender and sexual identities as people on earth cause every person is just so damn different. And I think that's beautiful. Labels are just used so that other people can understand another's identity better without them having to describe every facet of themselves :)
