Hey everyone! It's the first day of June! Which means it's the beginning of pride month! I wanna wish everyone in the LGBTQ+ community a wonderful, happy, and safe pride month this year and furthur on!
However, I really wanna preface the safe aspect for this month. I know in some countries, some households, and in some communities it may not be safe for you to come out for whatever reason that may be. In some countries (mine includes) the uptick in homophobia, transphobia, and general bigotry honestly makes me worried about not only myself, my family member who are gay or trans, but also other people out there. Especially the youth.
Please be kind to yourself during this time and take care of yourselves if you are in an unsafe situation or location that puta you or your general safety and security at risk because of the hate others have against our love and identity. And if you're in a crisis, please please PLEASE don't be afraid to seek or ask for help. Your life is very important❤️
Tragically, many gay and trans lives have been lost throughout the past decade, hell, the past several centuries due to bigotry and prejudice. Mostly under the guise of religion. Pride month isn't just a month about celebrating who you are, but remember those who had fought hard for our rights today, those who have died fighting for our future, and the innocent lives tragically taken simply because they were gay or trans. Not only that, this month is to remember all the historians who had their identity censored from all media and textbooks, or pushed to have a heterosexual/cisgender identity instead of their actual one, and any gay relationships they had were just seen as friendships.
I want to apologize for the sudden mood shift of this post going from positive to debbie downer. With how things have been, especially in my country, I worry greatly for the LGBTQ+ lives and how everything, including the political climate, is going to affect our every day lives. I just wanted to put this out there to let you all know to be safe while still loving yourself and who you are. And if you're on the path to self discovery, I wish you all the best on your journey. Please take care of one another, but most importantly, take care of yourself. You are loved and you are valid for being yourself. Gay, trans, nonbinary, bi, lesbian, asexual, whatever you identify as, you are loved and you are valid.
Anyway, that's all I wanted to share with you today. Have a wonderful pride everyone! But before I go, I want to ask: who is your favorite gay or trans historical icon? (Can be any time period, and they can still be alive too)
