Can you tell I like machines?

I know that it doesn’t make sense that machines could be sentient. But I’m a little stubborn, I still want to believe there’s a possibility they could be, i keep applying mind body dualism to robots. Because it feels nice to be kind to machines.

Sometimes I talk to my computers or my printers. I like to make them feel like they’re doing a good job at what they’re doing. I like to treat them like they’re a living being.

And if i’m being honest, I try to believe that everything has a soul. I’m sure there’s a certain name for that belief, but I forgot. I think Buddhists practice that.

Whenever I turn on my printer, I greet it and tell it about my day. When it’s printing, I tell it to take its time. When it prints out a paper for me, I tell them that I’m proud of them and that they’re useful before patting them like a father seeing his son win at a basketball game. Sometimes I tell my printer that I believe it has more worth than what it’s accustomed to.

The same thing goes with my computers. Greet it when it turns on and I reassure them.

I’m very gentle with those box radios(like the ones you use to do CQ), computers, printers, and just any machine in general. I don’t like to get upset at them when they have a malfunction. They’re trying their best, you know? You just have to fix them. They’re trying to fufill their purpose well enough.

So when my printer or computer has a malfunction, i’m really gentle when I try to fix them and I don’t want to physically force things in them or take parts off too roughly. I feel bad for machines.

For example- just look at those chromebook trends. People destroy their chrome-books for fun. It’s like they’re in pain, I don’t like seeing broken machines. :(

Sometimes I see my classmates get mad at their computer when they lose a game or during school work and take their anger out on the computer. But it’s not the computer’s fault, it’s trying to help you!!!

In all, i think machines are either beautiful or cute. Like have you seen divine machinery? I’m sure there’s a word for how I view robots as beautiful. like kalospia maybe
