Heyy guyss! Back again! This is a blog series of a new and fresh adult!
Okay hiii again! So something that has happened is that I lost my Airpod case overnight and finally got em back! Ugh, it was annoying! But i'm kind of just making this causeee I wanna be a nerd.
(WARNING! This is about Undertale, so if you are a fan you know that there is the dark side of the fandom. Just be aware of any topics I mention.)
Specifically, about Undertale. It's literally been a decade since it's official release, and the fandom is still going strong! I've been a fan since then, and I've literally experienced the ups and downs of the fandom. How I first got into Undertale, was seeing someone play it, and the first ever character I was introduced to, was Undyne. At first, I thought Undyne was a man with a ponytail. And then I decided to look more into the game, and I got to see bits and pieces, the fan videos, alll the cool shit!
Then my obsession started to spiral from there. I officially got the game, probably later in 2017. And it was awesome! I wish I get to experience it all over again! I was probably 10 or 11 when I started to play the game officially. And as anyone would expect...I was also a Sans lover. I drew a comic before I even figured out art programs like IbisPaint X, or Sketch. Sketch is now taken down but it was my go-to if I wanted to draw my oc's. And literally it was just about me being in the game and being Sans's girlfriend. I think any Undertale fan was a Sans fangirl when they first started out in the fandom. Even I was. I just didn't make it public like most Sans's fangirls did at the time.
Sans fangirls were a wild ride. Some were serious, some were satire. I would watch just compilations of those people back in the day, and would laugh or cringe depending how serious it was.
The animatics and the comic dubs? My main favorite at the time. Still is! There would be a lot of talented voice actors who would voice all the characters and seeing the different depictions with alternate universes. However, there isn't very many honorable mentions. Take PJ's daycare for example. I was pretty much a young child viewing this, and saw nothing wrong at the time. Looking back at it now as a full grown adult...I immediately realized how somehow this person got away with this. I mean, I guess there was just a lot of younger people viewing it at the time, but the comic is just plain creepy and weird. For example, we got the scene from where Fresh Sans is crying. Keep in mind, except PJ, every Sans's alternative self is a child in this comic.
Fresh Sans was crying because, PJ wouldn't marry him, and kids have a wild imagination and don't know any better. It's just the way it was executed in the comic. PJ said and I quote, 'we talked about this. I told you that you need to grow up first and you agreed.'. Which I think was predatory and fucking weird of him to say. Not to mention that, there was one scene where someone said 'How would PJ react if Fresh was suddenly an adult?'. And PJ called him hot. First off...PJ should never be a daycare attendant at all, if he's calling Fresh hot. That's so gross!
This brings me to my next comic. Made by the same person, It's PJ that's now the child, and Fresh that's now the adult. And the concept of their relationship is still so gross in this one. Fresh is supposed to be PJ's uncle. GROSSS!
But away from the bad side for a minute, my favorite comic was Handplates. Holy shit, I loved it. Even though it was the saddest most intense thing I watched in that fandom.
So basically in this comic, Gaster is supposed to be Sans and Papyrus's dad in a way. A shitty dad. But we'll get to that in a minute. So this was during the after events of Asriel and Chara's death. Asgore has grown angry and seeks death to all humans that fall in the Underground. But Gaster was against this and pleaded with Asgore that they had to do something else to break the barrier. Although Asgore's anger was kind of justified because he's literally lost his two kids and his freedom to the surface, Gaster told him that he would think of how to fix all of it. And I think he made Sans and Papyrus for research. And you can kind of see Gaster just really losing his shit at this point from there. It's a really good comic and I totally reccommend!
My favorite alternate universe, I really can't decide. But one that is really up there is Horrortale. It's probably the art style that I find very charming. But the backstory is pretty much the monsters going batshit because food has run out because of the CORE shutting down completely. And the result was resource shortage. And the only food option they have?? Aliza. It's kind of sad honestly considering the monsters were having to starve to death.
Favorite song? Well, I used to be a huge fan of the remixes when I was young. If you know, SharaX then you know. As for fan made shit, the Stronger Than You parody with Sans and Chara was recently remastered. And honestly, It's still just as good as the one back then. Down to the Bone, is still a banger. However Hard Drive and Echo is still up there for me. Good shit.
Favorite character. I can't choose for sure. But I do admire a few monsters's backgrounds. We'll first look into Sans. I know Sans is depicted as this lazy, sloppy skeleton. But I think behind the monotone, and nonchalant demeanor, I think this guy has depression. In the genocide route, you can truly see how much he has given up for the future of monsters and their freedom, and is very aware that even if they do get to the surface, it wont even matter. Because the reset will just happen anyway and nobody would even remember what even happened. And depression could explain the constant fatigue and the lack of motivation he has for doing things. For example, the sock debut between him and his brother, Papyrus. He is also mysterious and he seems to hide information and pretend he doesn't know more than he lets on. I feel really bad for Sans but also can see why he's a fan favorite. He is charming in his own way.
Next up is Papyrus. I love this goober of a skeleton. He's practically Sans's anchor. I feel bad for him too. This guy wants to be the guy that everyone looks up to! Kind of like his friend, Undyne! There's a lot of theories that Papyrus may be the strongest character in the game. And this theory has gotten me thinking. I looked at a post that said if Papyrus were to have some form of emotional damage, that he could probably be Sans's level of strong. Him and Sans have similar abilities like soul manipulation, bones, etc. In the Disbelief Papyrus fangame, I think is what where were gonna get closest to Papyrus's true abilities. Overall, he is a kind soul! He thinks everyone deserves a second chance, and even tried to get Frisk to stop killing during the genocide route. I dont think in the Undertale universe, Papyrus would ever snap. Papyrus is just too patient when it comes to bad people.
Last one I'm probably gonna do is Alphys. From what I've seen in a lot of media and the game itself, Alphys has a secret lab that she keeps monsters...However these monsters are in more of a bad state. Given the term 'Almalgamates'. She has done this for the sake of determination research in monsters. I have no idea if these were participants in the project, or what, but Alphys mentioned that she has letters being sent to her. As if their families have been worried and they haven't been sent back. In her entries, she describes how the monsters have fused together due to the high concentrations that they couldn't handle. And as a result, she didn't tell anyone. And this makes me think of the Alphys making Flowey theories. Putting Asriel's soul into a flower body to give it the life it once had. I think it's a cool theory honestly. Aside from the True Lab, I'm thinking that this was the work of Asgore and how to make a breakthrough to break the barrier.
Undertale Yellow has recently come out, and it was one of the saddest things I think I've ever played. Even if you want to spare the monsters, (and I kind of understand why it ended that way), They took Clover's soul for Asgore. It was a very sad ending, however, I just don't really have the heart to really do the genocide route. I just don't. However, I'll save Undertale Yellow for the next blog probably. Same goes for Deltarune.
That's all the yapping I got for now. I'll see ya'll in the next one!
