Fire force is the first anime I've watched fully in a few years. I kinda fell off watching it and I don't really know why. I started producing anime content on tiktok this year and its kind of rejuvenated my love for it. I decided to start with Fire Force because its been a series I've had my eye on. I never got into Soul Eater much (also made by the same guy) and I thought why not give his second series a shot.
I over all enjoyed my time with this series, but I hate to say I'm also underwhelmed with it. I was really expecting something a bit more deep and bombastic. Don't get me wrong, I don't need hype, peak, action every ten seconds but I just thought a show with literal fire fighters would have more going on. The antagonists of the story do have a very evil aim but they them selves don't feel very threatening. I also think the Sho story line was completely botched. I was so hype to see what they were going to do there but the way the writer decided to go was kinda boring to me.
On some positive notes I love Shinra as a main character. He wants to be this great hero but he also carries this terrible trauma with him. I think this series does a great job of showing Shinra deal with his trauma. I love the 8th as well, they are a great cast of characters. Each member is a fully developed character, I feel like I know them all like they're actually friends of mine. To me the characters are the most important aspect to a story. Even if the story kinda lacks, if you have good characters they will carry you through.
I'm definitely interested in seeing where this story goes. the mystery behind the Evangelist in particular I can't wait to be revealed.
