i've been very frustrated upon realizing that letterboxd only lets you display four favorite movies at a time, so i decided i'd make a complete list here for fun :3 this post will probably be the longest i've ever written hehe. please congratulate me on learning how to make collapsible texts (/j)
also pls follow me on letterboxd if you want, i'm trying to watch a new movie every week & leave a review!

little women (2019)
this movie is so integral to my identity i can't even express it. jo march is the most relatable character i've seen maybe ever. greta gerwig made such a masterpiece with this one!! jo's speech near the end is the most accurate description of the aromantic experience to this day, and this movie will always be such a comfort film for me. i've literally done school projects talking about this, and i could go on and on (and on and on and on) about how amazing this film is!
the half of it (2020)
i love this for many of the same reasons i love little women. the emphasis of friendship, the immigrant experience, the character writing... i love everything about this movie. the intro always makes me tear up a little. this is also the epitome of the dumb himbo (yes, i hate that word) and shy loser trope. please watch this if you haven't already!! also, the main character is queer :-P this will never not be my favorite lgbtq+ film
tangled (2010)
rapunzel is my favorite disney princess ohmygod. this is one of the only disney movies i like where they have that 3d animation style, and the aesthetics of it all are absolutely gorgeous! secretly (very secretly) i wish they'd stuck with the art style all the concept art is in, because it would've been soooo pretty! but other than that, i love this movie and it was a very firm staple of my childhood
how to lose a guy in 10 days (2003)
as far as i'm concerned, this is *the* 2000s romcom to watch. the chemistry is great, the writing is really funny, kate hudson is gorgeous. i watch this every time i need to romanticize writing for work (yes, i am watching satc right now, how'd you know?)
waitress (2007)
this is one of those movies you can tell is written by a woman, and she did an amazing job at it, too. i love the added bits of the main character imagining pie recipes, it was so unique! normally i don't like when female characters are "fixed" by having a kid, especially when they didn't want one in the first place, but this film executed it perfectly.
isle of dogs (2018)
this is my favorite wes andersen movies (and hot take: one of the only ones i like, haha). it's so visually pleasing, and i love any movie that appreciates dogs without being overly depressing. the scene where chief refuses to sit is sooooo pretty i can't even express it. the plot twists are great, and i love the way atari & chief bonded over the course of the film. it felt really natural, but not to the point of it being too predictable.
spiderman: into the spiderverse (2018)
this is the best coming of age movie ever written ever in the history of everything confirmed. everything down to the tiniest details was perfectly and passionately made. it's very effortlessly inspiring, as well, which i greatly appreciate. this movie helped me push through some of the hardest times in my life, and it helps me remember that, yes, i am an adolescent and i will be awkward and dumb and THAT'S OKAY!!
spiderman: across the spiderverse (2023)
take everything i said about into the spiderverse and double it. this movie was absolute art and cinema, and i feel so, so lucky to get to see it in theaters! it's one of those films that reminds you of the inherent beauty in storytelling and filmmaking and animation. i love it so much. it's such a perfect sequel to the first one, and the transition of miguel's struggles as he grows up was perfectly done!!
sleeping beauty (1959)
aurora is my second favorite disney princess, and this film in general is soooo underappreciated!! the art style is so, so so breathtakingly gorgeous, eyvind earle has my heart. i know a lot of people criticize this film for having aurora take a passive role, but i'd argue that it was intentional? she's not so much of a protagonist as the fairies are, since the film focuses on them the most. the comedy between the three of them is timeless, as well, and it makes me happy to think that the familial / sister experience was the same in 1958 as it is for me. also, flora and fauna are lesbians, i dont care what anyone says
the love witch (2016)
the only good thing to come from 2016, i swear. but seriously, i think i watched this at a very perfect time in my life. i love the themes of critiquing male & romance obsession, as well as the aesthetics surrounding witchcraft. the surrealism was so cool to watch, and the film itself is so beautiful. i love the way they stylized it as if it took place in th3e 50s-60s, even though it actually takes place in modern day.
waterloo bridge (1940)
this is my most recently watched film and i could talk about it foreverrr! it's changed my brain chemistry. i don't even like romance (if you couldn't tell already, haha), but i was swooning for most of the film. vivian leigh and robert taylor were perfect in this, and it's got that perfect vintage romance feel without feeling too... outdated, if you get what i mean. please watch this!! i'm so obsessed now.
howl's moving castle (2004)
speaking of obsessed, howl pendragon has my entire heart oh my gosh. when i first watched this i actually screamed when he came on screen. he's so much like me and so attractive at the same time that it's turning me into a narcissist, hehe. but anyways, the love story between him and sophie is so beautiful! i *love* it when two characters are fated to fall in love like they are (and like they were in sleeping beauty). it's so perfect. my dog is literally named after sophie, what else do i have to say?
paddington 1, 2, & 3 (2014, 2017, 2024)
i love paddington bear so much, he's so special to me. every one of these movies means something distinctly significant to me, and there are so many things i appreciate & love about these films: the relentless optimism, the found family, THE HOUSE OH MY GOD IT'S SO PRETTY, the themes surrounding being an immigrant, the slapstick humor, the marmalade, all of ittt oh my gosh
freeway (1996)
this is a dark, modern day adaptation of little red riding hood, as well as being a critique on the u.s. government (specifically the justice system and foster care), and how it treats lower class women particularly. the main character is a really good portrayal of an 'imperfect' victim (god, i loathe that term), and the best part is that she isn't punished for it.
uptown girls (2003)
i am a walking stereotype of a girl with unhealed trauma, and this movie gets to me. please watch it if you haven't. it's a great depiction of that feeling of being too mature when you're a child, and then too childlike when you're grown. the best part is that neither of the characters have to sacrifice their personalities to be healed, and they're equally interesting by the end.
little women (2019)

this is my most recently watched film and i could talk about it foreverrr! it's changed my brain chemistry. i don't even like romance (if you couldn't tell already, haha), but i was swooning for most of the film. vivian leigh and robert taylor were perfect in this, and it's got that perfect vintage romance feel without feeling too... outdated, if you get what i mean. please watch this!! i'm so obsessed now.
howl's moving castle (2004)
speaking of obsessed, howl pendragon has my entire heart oh my gosh. when i first watched this i actually screamed when he came on screen. he's so much like me and so attractive at the same time that it's turning me into a narcissist, hehe. but anyways, the love story between him and sophie is so beautiful! i *love* it when two characters are fated to fall in love like they are (and like they were in sleeping beauty). it's so perfect. my dog is literally named after sophie, what else do i have to say?
paddington 1, 2, & 3 (2014, 2017, 2024)
i love paddington bear so much, he's so special to me. every one of these movies means something distinctly significant to me, and there are so many things i appreciate & love about these films: the relentless optimism, the found family, THE HOUSE OH MY GOD IT'S SO PRETTY, the themes surrounding being an immigrant, the slapstick humor, the marmalade, all of ittt oh my gosh
freeway (1996)
this is a dark, modern day adaptation of little red riding hood, as well as being a critique on the u.s. government (specifically the justice system and foster care), and how it treats lower class women particularly. the main character is a really good portrayal of an 'imperfect' victim (god, i loathe that term), and the best part is that she isn't punished for it.
uptown girls (2003)
i am a walking stereotype of a girl with unhealed trauma, and this movie gets to me. please watch it if you haven't. it's a great depiction of that feeling of being too mature when you're a child, and then too childlike when you're grown. the best part is that neither of the characters have to sacrifice their personalities to be healed, and they're equally interesting by the end.
