Does anybody on this site have IRL friends? I don't have any IRL friends. I have family and extended family which isn't bad but I would like to have friends too.
the lack of friends upsets me sometimes because I feel like a weirdo for not having any. I can try to talk to people at local events, but would anybody whose neurotypical want to be friends with me?
maybe I'm just being dramatic but its something I've had on my mind for a while.
anybody reading this doesn't have to send an invite because of this, I just want to know if I really am alone in this frustration.
I'll still attend events in my community just to tread the social waters, hopefully I'll also find someone on the spectrum I can communicate with. hope your guy's friendships are great. and if you don't I hope you find some =)

You're not alone in that at all. I've been in pretty much the same boat since I was 12. I'm still quite shy/awkward and I certainly wouldn't say I have any friends yet but I've at least been socializing more by going to a local D&D Adventurer's League group. They don't seem actively annoyed by my presence so far, so that's a start (:

I also had no friends for a while, but then I started using a bunch of dating apps specifically to meet friends, and it's definitely helped! I'm still not too good at approaching and talking to complete strangers face-to-face but I'm working on that. So far, I've made a few good friends and I'm excited to make even more this year.
