Back in the gym.

Finally back in the gym after my sickness, and it's immediately obvious to me that my stamina has gone down a lot, and the conditioning in my arms. They kept falling when consistently throwing straights for about the first half of the session. It has taken a small toll on me but I know that i'd be more miserable if I was to stop now, so I'm going to have to keep showing up until I'm back to where I was.

Sparring on the other hand, despite my lower gas tank, had mild success. I mostly focussed on countering and smothering, rather than my usual fast pace, though this was only to keep me active because my usual ''on the toes'' style wasn't viable at the time. My power has kept intact which allowed to rely on it, but I definitely have to gain my volume and pressure back more, along with my head movement.

After the warm up, drills, sparring, we did sprints and then the session was over, but I took the opportunity to shadow box and go on the bag a bit with the next class. I did gain something beneficial out this lesson which is how to throw straight punches more ''better'' I guess, I'm not sure how I'd word it.

What I'm talking about is jab to the head, cross to the body, jab to the head, cross to the head, in a fast motion. It's simple, but something I didn't quite think of, and I start to realise that I've been seeing it constantly at the higher level without clocking it. I drilled that on the bag and I started to gain the conditioning back for my arms.

I'll also be getting new running shoes finally so I can start improving stamina there too. That's all for today.

- For tomorrow.
