The stages of being a blink-182 fan

I posted a bulletin talking about how some of my friends don't like pre-enema of the state blink-182, which I think is totally absurd. But after doing some thinking I've realized when I got into blink back in 9th grade I wasn't a fan of their 90's era either. To get to a point where I am able to appreciate ALL eras of blink I had to go through a series of my own eras, so I present to you...

THE 5 STAGES OF BEING A BLINK-182 FAN (according to Matt)

1. Enema Of The State

Chances are when you're introduced to blink it is through their breakthrough 1999 album, Enema of the State. You spend some time exploring the more popular songs of the album before moving on to...

2. Untitled/Take Off Your Pants And Jacket

 So you're liking what you're hearing from blink and you wanna hear more. Might as well move onto their other popular albums! You listen to some songs from their Untitled album, most famous for I Miss You (debatably their most iconic song), and you listen to TOYPAJ, and say "Hey, this is pretty good!" But you're far enough into being a fan that now you know they had more albums before Enema of the State, so you make your way back to...

3. Dude Ranch 

"Of course! The album right before Enema! They must have the same sound, right?" WRONG! Enema has a cleaner sound, even introducing a brand new drummer, whereas Dude Ranch is more raw, unfiltered, and stupid. The songs are stupid. At this point you probably already know the top single, Dammit, so might as well give the album a listen. But, you're not a fan of the more unproduced sound, Tom Delonge sounds a little more whiny, and all of the guitar chords sound the same. Boring! (that album also has a song called boring) Chances are you actually did like the album, but its nothing compared to enema!

4. Enema of the State..again?

Screw Dude Ranch! It sucks! You're going to keep listening to Enema and forwards, I mean, you liked that, right? You become a consistent blink listener and you are living your absolute best life! You even know the band members names! 

5. Back to the 90's

So you've been a blink-182 fan for a while now, maybe even coming up on a year. You're listening to the same songs over and over, but you don't care, they're good! But you wanna check out something else. "I guess I'll give dude ranch another listen..." But wait, what's this? These songs are really good! Holy crap! The lyrics to apple shampoo are amazing! The humour in degenerate is impeccable! THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING!!!! You listen to it over and over, maybe even buying it on cd. But wait! There's more! Cheshire Cat has even more of this wonderful early sound! And it's even stupider! And Buddha, oh wow! I LOVE 90S ERA BLINK!!!!!!!!!!! 

Congratulations! You've learned to properly appreciate the unfiltered powerful sound of blink-182 before Enema of the State. You now have 6 blink albums at your will! (7 if you include the Mark, Tom, and Travis show) You have unlocked ultimate Blink-182 fan!
