transformers one glazing (pretty minimal spoilers?? i think)

i feel as though a lot of transformers media writes the decepticons really poorly. this is usually because a lot of transformers media is for kids and usually antagonists are shown to children in a way thats very black and white, however i feel as though in many cases this does a disservice to the writing of the decepticons. in many versions of transformers the cause for the war itself is briefly explained and often lacks nuance, typically written off as "autobots good decepticons bad", which is inherently true, however it makes it seem as though the decepticons have genuinely no reason to continue fighting and takes away from any of the significance behind their fighting, ultimately leading to a story that is overall less interesting.

its so unfortunate to see how poorly transformers one did in theaters because i truly believe transformers one is one of the best pieces of transformers media when it comes to introducing new fans. transformers one did a perfect job of establishing the initial friendship between d-16 and orion pax, and at the end creates an amazing set-up for what would be other transformers media, or a second movie in an ongoing series. (which we will likely never recieve due to hasbro cutting funding for transformers films because transformers one didnt make enough money. but a girl can dream)

my only complaint with transformers one is that i wish they had given more time for the development of d-16s character, but i understand that the movie itself was a bit rushed as it was compressing pretty much all of the transformers lore into a unique story within hour and 44 minute film, while also trying to be entertaining to children, so i think for what it is it does the best it could with megatron/d-16s character. i don't mind if its not accurate to the technical transformers lore as i personally think the alligned continuity is a sack of horseshit and i like when different transformers series have their own takes on the story, but ill probably end up ranting about that in another blog post.

anyways, if you take away anything from this its that if you haven't seen transformers one you should go watch it now because its absolute fire. especially if you want to get into transformers but are unsure of where to start, tfone is a great introduction. id also reccomend checking out the skybound comics because theres not too many issues of that out yet and its still ongoing, and its a really well written and interesting take on the decepticon/autobot war and optimus prime's progression as a leader.

i dont know how else to write a conclusion/ending statement so u just gotta stop reading at this point. ok thanks bye

FR DUDE!!

TF One is what fully got me into transformers, and I'm so glad I got to see it in theaters because it's now one of my all time favorite movies.

If Hasbro doesn't give us a sequel I'm coming after them /j

unfortunately, hasbro has announced that there will be no continuation to transformers one and will no longer be funding future transformers films, however they’ve announced a lot of new projects so not all hope is lost
